I am confident that my experiences while a student at the University of California, Davis are what have most prepared me to succeed as a student of law. My curiosity of law and politics began around the age of ten, though at the time, I did not have my sights set on a legal profession. My grandfather told me about how his father was one of the first elected officials of the Indian National Congress, and how he got his start as a political activist and eventual trained to become a barrister. Those stories that made me wonder about what I could do to help change the world were actually about my great-grandfather and his work with Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai "Sardar" Patel to help establish the Indian National Congress. So much so, that I even temporarily gave up on the prospect of law school. My academics took the largest blow, and as a result, I was placed on Academic Probation. One of the strongest motivators for me to get back on track, both academically and socially, was to realize that being a role model to my fellow fraternity brothers while having a low GPA was in no way justifiable. Though it took a while, I did whatever was necessary to revitalize my motivation and increase my GPA; working one-on-one with professors, going to grief counseling and keeping a defined goal in my mind at all times; law …show more content…
Our, once full of life, fraternity president was admitted to the hospital as his vital organs were failing. The emotion on the faces of my brothers was that of distress and shock. In the same week, there was an arson attempt on our fraternity house. Within hours of reporting it, the authorities, the emergency services, the university officials, the national fraternity and the media had shown up at our front door. I stepped up to the role of president pro tempore, accessing and managing the situation as best I could. I took it upon myself to help the emergency services run a smooth investigation while at the same time keeping the fraternity morale high and the worries to a minimum. With little to no sleep for about a week, the stress over the arson attempt remained a heavy burden, but I knew that I had done my part. Being the voice of reason and support in a time of chaos gave me the strength and self-control to be the leader I am

My involvement as President of this years National Honor Society at Burlington High School has been one of great dedication and hard work. I have to say, it has not been an easy task, but it has taught me an aray of different lessons dealing with management of particular tasks and using time more efficiently. My life is hectic enough as it is living on a farm, playing high school sports, and challenging myself academically as much as possible, and NHS has only added to that work-load, but in no way would I ever change my decision to be a leader of NHS. This year has been extremely rewarding to me as I have launched two projects, one of which has been completed as my project team and I helped get seniors registered to vote in Wisconsin for the upcoming election in November.…

In the origination of the school, it was quite difficult to put aside the previous student body loyalties, biases, and come together to create something worth lasting which has never happened before. I saw this task at hand and I decided I wanted to take part in uniting this school. I would play a part in creating a future for the next generations that have come and yet to come. Bringing people together and creating a sense of unity in such a divided world plays off when I look back and see how hard I worked in the making of that community.…

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. I still tried to attend class but was unable to find the balance between work, school and family and this reflected my grades.…
