My Work Experience At The Media Resource Center

I attended work experience at the Media Resource Centre, I gained new knowledge and skills in marketing and a work environment. The Media Resource Centre focuses on new entrepreneurial filmmakers and helps them in their journey to success as well as holding various events. Marketing and event coordination is a big part of the Media Resource Centre. From my week of work experience I wanted to gain knowledge of various careers (mainly marketing) and what qualities and attributes are best suited to this career.

My main goal for the week was to become aware of the lifestyle and requirements that a career in marketing would entail. I wanted to learn more about this to see if it fitted my expectations for the career. I wanted to gain first-hand knowledge of how best to get into the career for example whether to do internships or have a part time job in the field when studying. I also wanted to learn and develop skills. Before I had to attend my work experience week I had to prepare myself to be professional in a workplace. I had already acquired professional and formal language from working in my part time job when talking with employers and customers. This gave me experience in talking to adults in a mature manner. The phone calls I had to make before work experience and completing the work experience booklet also prepared me. In my part time job I worked in customer service and did a lot of my work with customers. Through this experience I developed my interpersonal communication skills which ultimately helped me to fluently communicate with adults at work experience. As I refine and develop my skills of communication I will become faster and more equip for the rest of school due to having greater understandings of communication methods. I can expand my development by communicating with different types of people and broadening the ways in which I communicate whether it be learning a new language. Communication skills can help me build interpersonal relationships with my teachers and peers which will create a support network for my years ahead.
