People often say that when experiencing life threatening or terrifying situations, someone’s life may flash before their eyes. However, some people do not understand what may be happening to them, and in that quick moment, a life may not flash before his/her eyes. Her most terrifying experience happened in an instant and lasted no longer than five seconds, yet this moment leaves her in a robot-like back brace for months and replays in her mind night after night. She felt the quick bounce signaling the group was about to throw her up in the air; however, this time, Sam jumped back instead of flying upward. She heard a collective, quiet gasp and felt no hand catching her. The next thing she knew, Sam was gasping for breath and could not feel her legs. The echoing sound of “are you okays” and “oh my Gods” flew around her head like cartoon birds, yet she still could not grasp exactly what was happening. She felt Coach Erin’s arms wrap around her like a mother protectively wraps her arms around a child. Erin was whispering to Sam softly. Sam felt her face become wet, and realized she began crying at some point during this entire ordeal. Once she had regained feeling in her now tingling legs and could finally breathe again, Sam looked up at Coach Erin and spoke between choked
