Personal Narrative Essay: Taking A Trip To India

Improved Essays
Six years ago, my family and I decided to take a trip to India so we could visit relatives. Anxiety filled my whole body because I never met any of these people before. We stuffed our suitcases with various clothing, products, presents, and accessories for the interminable trip ahead of us. Arriving at the airport, we set our heavy, black suitcases on the belt as it carried them away. After two hours of patience, my family and I finally boarded the large white airplane. People filled up the plane with every passing second. Flight attendants wore official uniforms and attended to passengers’ needs and helped them find their seats. Even though I was only eleven years old, I found my seat with ease. Without delay, the flight attendants explained …show more content…
Rain fell from the sky and people everywhere cheered and thanked god for the heavy rainfall. Civilians everywhere were drenched, yet they all started dancing like it was a party. I perceived the subtle laughs from the crowd, which made me laugh too. My family and I drove throughout New Delhi, India, and made it to our relative’s abode. “Sahil, I would like you to meet your grandfather,” announced my mother.

“Hello Sahil, it is wonderful to finally meet you!” said grandpa. “ I have been waiting all these years to see my grandson. Tell me everything about you, including your likes and

Due to he and my grandma’s anniversary coming up, we decided to make the party memorable. We called for catering at the party, for my grandpa adored all types of delicacies. Unfortunately, my grandma had to leave on urgent business, so I did not get a chance to meet her. Because her return to India became imminent, my grandma bought gifts for my brother and I My parents contacted my grandpa and grandma’s closest friends to invite to the function. Being a minor definitely stopped me from helping out directly, and me being the youngest in the family did not help either. Yet, I attended to the gift wrapping and the organization of the tables. Since preschool, I have been gifted with the talent of organization. Putting my skills to good use, I organized not only the tables, but the gift baskets as well. Though the party planners believed that I did not have any sense of direction, minutes later, they recognized my talents. I placed color in accordance to shade, in terms of lightest to darkest. I removed any stains from the cloth that lined the basket by using home remedies that my grandma wrote down. I decorated each basket with a variety of designs and the final result turned out wonderful. A feeling of joy filled me as I glanced at each basket with confidence. Finally, to wrap up the planning, we decided to sneak my grandma inside the fiesta undetected. I knew that this bash would be the highlight of my vacation

It started with a dead cat, and it ended with a dead cat. Well, it technically ended with therapy, but you get the picture. Flashback to ninth grade: a friend of my mother called us up to tell her one of the stray neighborhood cats had died, leaving behind a litter of day old kittens. She said she didn't have the time or resources to care for them, and asked if my mom could take them off her hands until they became old enough to give to the SPCA. My mother, with her wretched bleeding heart, obliged more than willingly, and we found ourselves with a litter of newborn kittens for at least the third time.…
