Reflective Essay On The Big Five Personality Test

As someone who comes from such a close family my values are directly connected to my family and how I was raised. I find comfort in tradition and routines within my family and look forward to celebrations with them. But on a more complex level I value trust more than anything. I am a very trusting person and I often give people the benefit of the doubt but I also believe that once trust has ben broken it can never be repaired. I strive to be trust worthy and surround myself with people who have proven they are also trust worthy. I believe that this value is the reason why I scored in the 63 percentile on The Big Five Personality Test stating that I tend to consider the feelings of others. This value allows me to be compassionate and open to new people and experiences. Although my compassion is a strength of mine, I also consider it a weakness. I sometimes find that I am too trusting or too forgiving to people who don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. My emotions get in the way of my rational and I have been hurt many times because of it. I feel that I am very open to trying new experiences and have a very creative mind. However, on the personality test I scored relatively low in that section stating that I typically don’t seek out new experiences. I disagree with this because I am constantly looking for new ways to grow and learn. For example, with work, whenever my manager is seeking someone to take on a new task I am generally the first to volunteer. I am on the Health and Safety committee, the social committee, and the work load assessment tool committee. I feel that being more involved at work helps me to be a better employee to my manager and a better colleague to the rest of the office.
