Why Do I Want To Be Proud Essay

When I was 7 years old in December of 2003, I stepped foot for the first time in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time I did not know

how hard it was going to be, having to grow up quickly, become an independent person, and aside from learning that the people

who you think would be the ones to help you end up being the one 's who try to destroy you. My mom always used to say, “You were

born alone not with people do your own thing do not expect others to.” The first months of living here were horribly lonely. I stood all

alone, and felt deserted in an unknown environment covered with people speaking all sorts of words I could not grasp.

During the month of February of the following year, my mom had enrolled me to start in my second grade

I could not believe how far I had gotten, in adapting to a new place in such a short time, I could not

have been more proud of my accomplishments.

During my fifth grade year I was doing great, and mastering the English language. I always got excellent reading achievements

diplomas for my outstanding reading at higher level grades than that of mine. “School was never my forte, but I always tried to make

it fun, and tried making new friends.” Education has never been my cup of tea, but I value the fact that I was able to receive what

others wish they could have. Despite the fact that many people tried to bring me down at first; I learned to do things on my own

instead of relying on others to help me accomplish them.

In conclusion, sometimes we have to grow up fast for various reasons I had to, because I practically had no one to help me out

with the fact that I could not understand my school work. Even though some time had passed, my parents still had a hard time with

their English; in part this is also one of the reasons why I forced myself to learn English faster. This made me grow up in the sense

that in Cuba, I was used to living a simpler life, and always surrounded by people I knew who helped me out, but by the time I

In the 19 years I have been alive, I have lived in three states, five towns, eight houses, and now, two countries. Right before I finished high school my parents decided to move to Guatemala. I welcomed the change because I had been visiting Guatemala every summer since I was 15, and my heart always seemed at peace there. The closest I perpetually felt at home was when I lived in Guatemala, though I resided there for a short time. Every day greeted me with words rolling off my tongue I previously did not know, the taste of delicious and unique foods, and a breathtaking landscape, complete with the view of an active volcano outside of my bedroom window.…

Guayabitos is a place that is very familiar to me. It is a beach resort in the west of Mexico that my family used to go to everytime we visited our relatives in Villa Corona. It’s a pretty place with gentle waves, and hot sand, and a lot of people. There are two little islands that you can see from the shore and could be reached via boat (we visited one of the islands once, but it was full of crabs and we weren’t able to get off). I was about seven or eight years old when we went to Guayabitos for the second time.…

“Come on, get out of the car. It's not a big deal. You need to get to school,” Those were words that I commonly heard the second half of my freshman year of high school. Of course most high school age kids don’t want to go to school, but it's for trivial reasons like the fact the work is boring. I didn’t want to go to school for a much more complicated reason; anxiety rushed through my body any time I even thought about getting close to the school building.…
