I feel that in life, it is important that I always improve myself and make myself into a better person everyday. Sometimes, when I perform a task for someone else or do a favor for them, I gain a sense of accomplishment and feel like I did my job as a human being to give to people who can’t do certain tasks for themselves. This idea of helping others has always been intertwined in my personality. Although I always tried to have a positive impact on many people, I still feel that I have not done enough, prior to an important event which occurred in my life only about 1 year ago, I had some selfish qualities about myself and in certain situations, I put myself before others who couldn’t help themselves. I knew that I had the sports aspect of extracurricular activities because I played baseball and basketball throughout my high school career but extra clubs and activities outside sports were lacking in my case. After friends and family endlessly bugged me for weeks on end about the importance of being more involved, I finally decided to apply to a well known group/society which was the National Honor Society. After I was accepted I had to search for somewhere to spend 10 hours at and take care of my community service. When I originally looked at the time, I thought that it would be a waste of time but I knew it would be helpful to me and my transcript. My admittance to the colleges that I wanted to go to were crucial to me so I decided to go through with it. Until the first day of community service, I selfishly thought that these 10 hours would be painful but when I started my community service, I found out that was not the case at …show more content…
Without Honor Society, I would have never been able to reach this feeling of attainment and I still would not understand that even just one hour a day out of my own time, can make a world of difference in someone else’s who needs help. My admission to the honor society is important to the development and maturity of myself today, and in the future because this process has opened my eyes to the world and what a world of difference one person can have on their society in things far beyond the classroom. My experiences have opened doors for me much past Owasco Elementary School because they have helped me realized that I can make a positive impact on this world which I never would have learned of without this

National Honor Society Application Essay For any human to exhibit qualities throughout their lifestyle, one must transcend in certain aspects of their nature. Everyone is born with a different character or personality and not everyone exceeds in all of the same categories, however; I would place myself among the four characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and outstanding character as some of the qualities where I excel. I was also raised to believe that my best is an A, so when I got my first B it was not something taken lightly. I try to remember that if you put your mind to something, then you can accomplish it, which reminds me of the quote by Mike Farrell, “If you try to do your best there is no failure.”…

Many students tend to join extracurriculars their friends join. Rather than picking the club that describes them as who they are, they drift towards activities that have more members or “look good” on college applications. As the year progressed and I realized which clubs I had a passion for.…
