Laity Lodge Family Camp Motivation Report

-What is your greatest motivator for applying to work at Laity Lodge Family Camp?
I honestly miss being around kids! This past summer I worked at a camp that I had been working at for a year now (2 summers and 1 winter camp). I knew that the upcoming summer (2017) I wanted to focus on getting a medical internship, and probably wouldn 't be able to maintain a job as a camp counselor, so this past summer would have been my last summer as a camp counselor! When my friend, Jordan Lange, told me about where she works on weekends, I was very interested. Not only would I be getting to be around kids AND families, but it’s a camp that’s based in the Christian lifestyle! I’m excited for the possible opportunity to work at the Family Camp! -Have you previously

Please tell us about this and how involved you are.
Yes! I’ve been attending church for as long as I can remember. Now moving to a new city for college, (From Houston to San Antonio) I’ve kind of had to start over and find a place where I feel connected to the spirit. Jordan Lange and I both go to a small bible study group every Wednesday! This bible group is connected to Young Life, a non-denominational Christian ministry. From time to time I go to Young Life’s Club (service) every Tuesday, as well as other Young Life social events. On Sundays I attend Cornerstone Church with my Pastor’s son from Houston!
-Tell us your story. When and how did you become a Christian? How are you growing now?
I grew up in a Christian home, so have “been a Christian my entire life”, but I actually became more serious about my faith when I started attending a Christian private school. By including a Bible class, tri weekly chapel services, and constant prayer and Christian-based encouragement, my faith was taken to new levels in an academic environment. I was baptized on October 15, 2011, and I can remember it as one of the best days of my

Trace Larson’s Testimony This testimony starts out when I was a young child born from my mother. I was born into a Christian home. The Christian faith was brought up into my life ever since I was born but I never made faith my own until I was most likely either 8th grade or a freshman in high school. I started going to pre-school when I was six, and did not learn very much at all.…

Every summer I work at Featherbed Lane Day Camp. There I have the opportunity to be a caregiver to the campers from ages 7 months to 13. One time I was paired with the kindergarten girl’s group. It was an amazing time with them because I love young kids, especially the girls since I’m one. One problem I had was giving an equal amount of love and attention to each girl.…

I was being driven to church on Sundays and youth group on Wednesdays for the first decade and a half of my life but it was only a routine, nothing more. This routine has been instilled in me since I first saw the light of day seventeen years ago yet I’ve never left my metaphorical bubble. I had grown up protected and shielded from the outside world and both the horrors and wonders it holds. When I transitioned out of Mennonite middle school, I was thrown into the deep end at a school where I knew no one and I couldn’t rely on Bible class to support my values. In all honesty, I lost my way.…

I was introduced to the Baptist religion when I was in kindergarten. A group of people from my town’s Baptist church came to my house immediately after September 11, 2001. They chose to come to our house because they felt moved to preach the good news to my mother who was a firefighter at the time. Their ultimate goal was to spread the good news to our whole family. After they left my house, my mom came into my bedroom to tell me what she had just learned.…

For the past five summers, I’ve worked at a summer camp as a counselor. I met a wide range of people, from underprivileged children to knowledgeable college students. Not only did I teach campers how to make ice cream and friendship bracelets, I made lifelong connections with many of the other counselors. Camp is where I learned what it meant to be part of a supportive community. Although most of us only see each other during summer, it’s an amazing feeling to come back to such a devoted group of people and work together doing what we…

October 12th. The day that I,Heather Kubel, a freshman at Sierra Lutheran High School, would have embedded in my memory forever. The day that I will always be able to remember the exact details, despite the shudder that would come from recalling it. I had had a pretty basic life up to now. I had an older brother in college and two parents who had taken me to church every Sunday since I was a little girl; despite the fact that my father and the rest of my family were Jewish.…

    1. Please tell us why you desire to serve at Barakel this summer. I want to work at camp this summer because I feel like God is calling me to come back to serve another summer. This has caused me to be conflicted over the past couple of months when I have thought about it because, in order to go to medical school, I need to be getting clinical hours. I kept telling others and myself that I would go back home and find a job.…

My story begins when I was only six years old. That was the year that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and He became a part of my life. At the time I did not know exactly what it meant to be a Christian, but I did everything a Christian would do since I thankfully grew up in a Christian home. It was not until I was a teenager until I fully understood what being a Christian meant. Experiences such as missions trips, retreats, and summer camps are what have shaped my relationship with Jesus.…

The Impact that has been made City of Praise; my church, my home, and my hospital. City of praise has impacted my life tremendously, and I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every bit of it. Growing up in the church was a normal thing for me since I was basically "born and raised in the pew" but for me to actually start living a truly Christian life was the task at hand for me. Years went by with our apostle Dr. Walter Boston and I always wondered "why?" Why did I have to come to church?…
