School Trip Research Paper

As a freshman in high school I had only been to 3 different states, Michigan included. My family didn’t really have the money to take spring break trips to Florida every year, so I never really traveled all that much. The world was a mystery to me, all I knew was what I learned in school so far, which really wasn’t enough. My sophomore year I took a world history class. This class is what really opened my eyes to everything that I hadn’t seen. The teacher was kind of $famous to the students. She had traveled to the places she was teaching us about. She wasn’t just giving us the information out of a textbook, she was telling us real things that she experienced. The thing about this class was, every year, she picked a group of students to go on a trip to a different country. My year there were two trips. One to three different countries in Europe, the other to Australia and New Zealand. After hearing about these trips, I knew that I needed to go. I was an eligible student for the trip, the only problem was the money.
I knew that it was expensive, but I asked my mom anyway. We were in the car coming home from the store. She already knew this teacher because my older sister had her the year before. When I mentioned that class, she had to know I was going to ask about the trip. I tried to be casual at first, just

If I ever go back to Europe, I am going back to Italy. We rode on a bus to get around, so we got to see the features of the land more than in the other countries. Everything was so beautiful, I couldn’t believe we were just driving down the street. The most amazing part of the whole trips was climbing to the top of Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano that buried Pompeii. The view from the top was looking over Naples, and then out onto the the Mediterranean Sea. For a second, I forgot that I was behind me was the crater to a volcano that killed thousands of people. Even then, I was surrounded by beauty, and it was

Have you ever heard of a tap tap? Three summers ago, I discovered a tap tap not just a nickname for banging a pencil on a deck, but a kind of taxi in Haiti. They are called tap taps because the passengers will signal the driver to stop or go by simply tapping on the back of the truck. I learned this fact on a mission trip to Haiti three summers ago. The trip was a very eye opening experience where I learned that I have many things to be thankful for.…

It has been proved time and time again, that students are happier when they get the opportunity of having a summer break. Without a summer break students don't perform the best of their ability. The school calendar should not run year-round because students perform better, and extra costs are avoided, however students would have more learning opportunities. All year long I look forward to summer. It's a time to be with friends, have no homework, and be carefree.…

During Spring Break 2017, I received words that I never thought I would hear “Grandma is in the hospital, we’re driving down to see her. We leave in fifteen minutes”, said my dad. My grandmother is the type of grandmother who takes you out at 10:30 at night to get ice cream. She makes the best meatloaf for miles and she gives the best hugs.…

I went to the Galapagos Islands and learned so much from my two week period of being there. I got to see amazing animals and meet very interesting people that I would have never encountered if I never would have ventured outside of my small home town Mooresville North Carolina. Seeing something in real life instead of a book or movie is a real eye opener. Many people do not get to see new cultures because of money or just have no interest in seeing new things. I feel very privileged that in my short lifetime I had the opportunity to go places and see things that most people will never get the chance to see in their lifetime.…

In Costa Rica, I was a foreigner for the first time in my life, and I learned that it is scary to be an outsider. I knew a limited amount of Spanish so I felt overwhelmed when I had to speak to any of the natives. I gained empathy for everyone who has the courage to visit another country. I learned that it is really important to find locals who are helpful and kind, since it is super easy to get lost in a foreign country, especially when you can’t read any of the signs. It felt empowering to be able to find my way through a country that was completely new to me.…

I was really proud of allowing myself to open up to new experiences and developing important life skills. This trip changed my life by making me value my parents way more than I used to and value what they have done for my brothers and I. It has made me embrace my roots and the culture I have grow up in. Also, it made me more independent by teaching me how to live in a place I’m not familiar with and to do things on my own. In addition it made me realize that I should take every opportunity that is handed to me because many don't get the opportunities we are offered. After all that I experienced it made me want to work harder so that I can provide my family with what they need to better their lives.…

During the first semester in my freshman year in high school, I never knew school club’s existed. All I knew was how to get to school and get as much experience as I could and return home. I did not have anybody telling me to join any school clubs or get good grades because I did not have an older brother or sister like other kids do. It was a terrible feeling of not having someone who can talk to you or inspire you to participate in school clubs but that all changed when second semester arrived. When second semester arrived, I made some friends, friends who tell me to join school clubs so my resume can look as good as a professional.…
