Erin looked at me and replied,” I can’t tell you to not play football but I would not advise you to play. The final decision is up to you and your parents. If you do choose to continue playing football I would advise wearing a back brace to help support the vertebrae.”
The only thing I could think about was how good it was going to feel on to be back on the field with my teammate’s my brother’s. On the way out we thanked Dr. Erin. Dr. Erin sent us with a nurse who fitted me with a back brace it’s a white brace that wraps around my back and fastens across my stomach with Velcro and a pull cord to adjust how tight the brace gets to allow me to adjust how much support it gives.
The next day after school I suited up and went through the entire practice without a problem. It went on like this for the rest of the football season. Game after game practice after practice as long as I was wearing my back brace during games and practices it was like it had never even happened. That year our team made it to the state football playoffs for the first time in ten years.
Football has turned me into the person that I am today. When I found out I couldn’t play I was devastated. That didn’t stop me from finding a way to play. Football meant so much for me to just give it
