College Essay On Becoming A Nurse

I was born and lived in San Jose, California up to the age of thirteen years old. Right before high school my parents decided to relocate to Modesto, California. While living in Modesto, my mother was diagnosed with diabetes. I remember how it was difficult to watch my mother go through the symptoms of diabetes. She was losing weight, she was always tired and her vision started to deteriorate. It made me feel so helpless. I recall going with my mother to her doctor appointments, and seeing how well the doctor and the nurses took care of her during her visits. I remember being thankful for their services because they were attentive, and caring to someone who I deeply care for.
I remember that during my freshman year in high school I was asked what seemed to be the most difficult question to answer, "What do you want to be in life?" Many of my classmates and friends would have an immediate response to the question, and many of them seemed to have chosen the same career, yet I was still unsure as to what …show more content…
To become an advocate for patients who cannot voice their concerns or worries because they need someone to help them. Becoming a nurse means that I will be doing what I am passionate for which to help people, and contribute to their wellbeing. I believe that a career in nursing is a rewarding career that offers a variety of work establishments in different environments giving me many options to choose from. One thing that I do know now, is that I can now say that I have my mind set to work as a nurse in the Pediatrics Department. By continuing my education with Unitek College, I am sure that I will continue to become more knowledgeable, and gain experience to become a registered nurse. I am looking forward to the challenge because at the end, it will bring me great joy to serve in the health care
