Demanding Instant Gratification: My Freshman Year In High School

I remember my freshman year in college. I completed an assignment and when the paper was returned there was the grade standing in my face...Capitalized, Bold in Red. I made a C. I called my Uncle Sonny and I cried. The funny thing is he was not sympathetic to me what so ever. This guy, my uncle on the other end of the phone, with his baritone voice, aggressively said, "Welcome to the World baby girl... 'Ain 't it Shit. '" I never saw the world of education the same any more after that day. I realized my best for high school was merely a filthy rag for college level work. This drove me as a student to do better than my expectations, to strive for something better than the rest consequently, my ultimate goal was better than the rest. My studying habits increased and my level of loyalty to prove that I was better than a C was my driving force. Happiness is what follows being within your destiny: what we as humans were designed for, are the lessons that echo from my childhood rearing. The purpose of one 's life, naturally has a cloud of bliss following in the midst of being where he/she is appointed and designed to reign. These lessons are not being established within the foundation of students prior to becoming acquainted with me. Instead, the generation before me in my class wants the information now, without reading, without, researching, without any strenuous labor because the world of search engines simplifies their life. It appears that students view instructors as a search engine, not an adviser, a source of guidance; yet, a resource that gives them answers so he/she quickly attains the information, in delight.
