Consequently, these memorable experiences, hopefully will create enjoyable memories associated with your visit to Disneyland. Reflecting on my family vacation photo taken on Main Street, memories begin to flash back as a result of my own sensory experience. Although the photo is at least seven years old, I’m reminded of the wonderful memories captured of the day’s visit. Although you have a total of five senses; smell, sight and sound are specific to me in generating and triggering memories from a visit to Disneyland. In researching your senses, I have learned that these three senses can all evoke emotionally charged memories because the same part of our brain that is in charge of processing our senses also is responsible for storing emotional memories. Disneyland does a wonderful job evoking all of your senses by creating a sensory rich environment throughout it’s well planned theme park. It’s amazing to be able to look at a picture taken many years ago from a specific place, like Main Street, Disneyland, and be able to recall your memories and generated emotions based on your

Walt Disney had a vision. He imagined an amusement park where children and their parents could enjoy rides and have fun together. But, when he was in an amusement park in the early twentieth century, he noticed that there were only random assortments of roller coasters, and how sanitation wasn't the greatest importance. Walt wanted a place where children and families could have fun together in a clean, orderly and fun way, and at an affordable price. He knew exactly what he wanted, and it would be called Disneyland.…

He quickly came up with the idea of creating an amusement park, which would satisfy both children and adults’ imagination and love of fantasy. This idea was put on hold through the Second World War, but eventually came to life on July 17th 1955, and would be known as Disneyland. This was one of Walt Disney’s most magical and personal projects, but it was conceived during an ambiguous and puzzling time of the American history. While some scholars believe that the amusement park is a place allowing individual choice and personal transformation through one’s imagination, others opted for a more cynical view, seeing a degree of consensual control and surveillance at the heart of its creation. Disneyland was not only an incredible success, but, during a time plagued by the nuclear scare and a communist threat, it became a beacon of hope, fun and adventure for the American…

From the distance I saw lights spinning in the dusk, I heard a tune as if someone was waiting anxiously for a jack in the box to pop out, and the smell of fresh popcorn found its way to my nose. At age nine these sights and sounds were part of movies and television, but now almost ten years later I was heading to my first American fair. Jitters that seemed to be stuck in my lower stomach while I restlessly waited in a long line to enter the fairgrounds resembled the feelings I had the first time I ever stepped foot on American soil. The feeling was of anticipation and uncertainty, but I loved this sensation because I knew I was about to embark on a journey that would be unforgettable. My family made the decision to pack our bags, leaving our…

In addition, when walking down Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom, guests may smell the aroma of cookies in the bakery or popcorn. Carson also comments on the park 's visual appeal by stating "Disney ensures that what visitors see of that land is what they would want to see on an actual vacation there" (232). The level of detail proves how Disney strives to create an enjoyable experience for all ages, and is beyond what children can comprehend. Children think that they are at a massive amusement park with rides based off of their favorite movies. On the other hand, adults are able to appreciate and take notice of all of the…
