My Experience At Copiah-Lincoln Community College

I have been enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College for less than four months and am the first in my family to go to college. While these circumstances may lead some to repudiate my authority on the matter,
I can assure all that the time I've had has been more than enough to create a proper review. Campus life is one area that has defined my experience attending a college. Co-Lin does not have the most alluring campus I have ever visited and, unfortunately, becoming lost is in no way challenging. Until recently, I have unintentionally made a habit of passing my classroom at least twice before realizing where I was. The campus features the classic brick buildings with white columns, sparsely planted trees, and rolling green hills; however, being forced to run across campus and up three flights of stairs to reach the next class can be rather inconvenient. Attending Co-Lin has improved my sense of direction, and time management abilities.

My brother doesn't get to play with me as much anymore, and getting the recommended eight hours of sleep is much harder in college. Being a full-time student is like having a job; that same dreadful feeling hits when the alarm goes off in the morning. While some view living in dorms negatively, I would appreciate the extra hour of sleep. Every day seems to be spent only studying, writing, researching, and completing assignments. Even if class ends before noon, the afternoon will be almost entirely occupied with schoolwork. As such, I have become an expert at Netflixing with studying on in the background. Some classes could be passed online without any teacher interference, yet students are required to attend all of the classes. Remembering that numerous breaks are scheduled throughout the semester helps. But alas, a test is always waiting to pounce as soon as students

I have always been independent, but I fully seeked independence when I was 16 years old. This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. The first step to my seeking of independence was turning 16 years old and getting my driver’s license. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

The article “The Good That Community Colleges Do, Part 1” by Rob Jenkins evaluates some of the things they do well at community colleges and the opportunities it creates for the students. Jenkins states, “Recent studies on the value of two-year colleges were contradictory because what we do well is hard to measure” (“The Good That Community Colleges Do, Part 1”). The thee things that Jenkins focuses on that do well at and creates an awesome opportunity for students are: the advantages of the open doors, second chances, and early entries. As a first time student attending Spokane Falls Community College, I honestly thought that the only buildings and areas of campus involving my class schedule would be of importance. Little did I know that one room I would encounter would become my safe haven. I remember the first day stepping out onto campus and all I saw was a giant riddle waiting to be solved so many parking spaces, buildings, rooms, classes, and students. The anticipation bubbling up inside of me was exciting and rooted with a little nervousness. I was searching for place to keep me focused on my goal of being a successful student, a place to refresh between rigorous lectures.…

My decision to attend HACC was due to financial needs. Originally, my educational plan was to attend Penn State Harrisburg as a double major in Political Science and Psychology, to which I have already been accepted. However, the opportunity to attend a community college with a very strong relationship with my main institution was one I could not pass, especially given the lower cost of attendance and high transferability of credits. My goal is to transfer or graduate from HACC without having accumulated debt so that my time at Penn State Harrisburg will go smoothly and be most worthwhile. I feel fervent that I have made the best decision for my current life situation.…

Andrew Delbanco in his article “3 Reasons College Still Matters,” he points out the importance of getting a college degree by saying that citizens must think of the benefits that they are going to get after they graduate from college. He gives three benefits when students get a college degree, and these benefits are: economically, politically, and intellectually educated. It sounds good to have such benefits, but nowadays, with all the development in technology that we have and all the things that make our life so easy, we depend every day more on technology. Now people are enrolling at colleges and they are trying to get good grades, but the technology is creating a wall between leaning and scoring grades. The big problem now is not how can…

Not everyone who attends college are successful at completing the courses needed to graduate. For many reasons, college students are forced to drop out willingly, are withdrawn by administration, or simply lose interest in furthering their education. However, the college students who complete college successfully and make it to graduation share some habits that make the odds of being successful work in their favor. Many college students succeed because they make it a priority to attend and involve themselves in class sessions regularly, take control of their education, and nurture relationships with the instructors on their school campus. One of the most important causes of being a successful college student is actually attending class sessions regularly.…
