Personal Narrative: My Visit To Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall

Improved Essays
I recently visited Santa Fe College Fine Arts Hall to view the Songs for the season. This was my first time ever attending a show. My first experience was great and I really enjoyed it. To begin I would like to say the production and the displays were magnificent. When I walked in even before the show began they gave the perfect lighting with the snowflakes projected on the closed curtains. They also projected a Christmas tree and sat nutcrackers on each side giving a great winter theme. As it began to fill up I noticed the diverse crowd, there were people from all ages and races attending the show. As the show started the lights went dim and the curtains opened showing the Santa Fe Singers and Musicians. The show contained a host of Christmas …show more content…
Kelli was very active during this performance; she was involved in three different solos: “Bashana Haba’ah, Gesu Bambino, and Hanukah Holiday”. In my opinion, I believe she did a great job handling those songs. The show included audience participation when they performed “Rejoice With Exceeding Great Joy”. It was a nice opportunity to have a moment of bonding of sorts between audience and performers. “The Christmas Song” was performed next which I really enjoyed. It’s a song that’s always played at home so I really had an ear for that song. The song “All is Well” was accompanied by a solo dance performed by Emma Wendemeyer. To me this was a moment that shared a somber but peaceful mood as she danced in a dim setting with a spotlight on her. She handled the spotlight well as she danced with such grace and elegance. They finished the show with two of the most common songs of the holiday season “Santa Claus is coming to town” and “A merry carol of bells”. I felt that they performed these songs at the perfect time. After sitting through nearly two hours of songs that I wasn’t really familiar with it was nice to hear two very familiar songs at the

I appreciated the effort and music the mariachi group gave in their performance. I noticed how the trumpet usually took the main role while the violins supported the trumpets voice, usually by pizzicato. The guitar and guitarrón were mainly the background music that played the same rhythm over and over. It made me realize the beauty of…

Inside the university theatre the crowd was coming in, soon the theater was packed with a variety of people from the community and students. The Dallas Museum of Art was the complete opposite of what I imagined it to be like. Before attending the museum, I had very low expectations. When I thought of “art museum” I imagined dusty walls lined with undiverse and outdated art. I imagined a place old couples went to because they had nothing better to do with their time. A place where the past lingered and grew old as civilization quickly moved on and forgot about it.…

For the majority of my life before coming to Texas A&M, I knew that I had to figure out a way to get here. Getting a college education would be my escape route to deviate away from becoming a low income family like my mother and her previous generations. My mother did the best she could to take of her three children by herself, but like many single parent households she struggled to do so. Due to my mom being the sole bread winner, there was often not enough money to maintain our household. I remember many days when we were only able to eat one meal a day that consisted either of half a chicken sandwich shared between my sister and I, or just a pack of saltine crackers.…

Last December, I was on my twin bed sitting by my window, blasting to Lady Gaga, when I came to the realization that I was never really me. The identity of the timid, smart Hispanic girl I had fabricated to please my English teachers in high school was not who I was. There are numerous amounts of people in the world who spend the rest of their lives not knowing who they really are, and a bigger quantity of people who hide their true selves; I was one of the few percentage who lived in denial of their sexual orientation. My whole life I rejected the possibility of fancying the opposite sex because of the environment I grew up in. In 6th grade when I was 11 years old, I was jealous of how much one of my female friends would pay attention to our…

On a sweltering summer day in the City of Atlanta or the “ATL” as it is affectionately known today, I visited my best friend while he visited his father for the summer. That day I remember vividly because as soon as we stepped outside of the airport to take the “MARTA” train, I began to sweat profusely. Anyone that has been to Atlanta during the summer knows it is incredibly humid there. A week earlier I had seen my friend, and we planned out what we were going to do that week I visited. I knew I wanted to visit Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College, but before I could visit the Atlanta University Center or the “AUC” as it is called to the locals, I felt compelled to visit the grave site of one of the most influential human being to walk this earth.…
