This paper contains four questions that I have answered, pertaining to my experience as a tutor and the thought of becoming a teacher. The questions are based on the individual that we have taught and helped. It reflects the way we feel and if we would continue to go on with teaching in the future. Why do you want to become a teacher? Who or what are your influences? What do you hope to accomplish as a teacher? What will be our legacy? All four questions are going to be answered very detailed throughout this paper. I’m going to break each question down as simple as possible, so that you will get a great understanding of where I’m coming from and where I;m going with it.

After all these years of wanting to become a doctor or nurse, I fell in love with teaching, not just because I love kids, but I want to be able to help students, while I teach them and not just the everyday curriculum and the strategies we have to give them but with studies and activities they can relate to. I believe everyone that is teaching isn’t meant for it. I had a teacher in 8th grade that told us every day she didn’t care if we weren’t going to pass, she will still get paid either way. That mind set right there showed me that every teacher that told me they cared about us, really didn’t. It was hard for me to trust any teacher after that for a long time. All I did in the classroom was do my work, turn it in and wait to get out every class up until I met my favorite teacher, the woman who influenced me the most to pursue my career in the teaching profession, Mrs. Yaminah Jordan. She was the most overall enthusiastic, real, and down to Earth teacher anyone can have. She always seemed like a tough cookie, but she was very genuinely helpful and caring. She gave each and every one of her student the up most respect she wanted back. Even though she had some that wouldn’t act right, like me, but when she got on us we all came on top. I mean finishing school with 4.0s, straight A’s, perfect attendance, she did it all with just showing us she truly cared for …show more content…
I hope to be a great role model for the teachers that are not as into their job as they should be. Some teachers will tell you that they gave been in the profession m any years, but you can’t tell that they are into their teaching as they should be. They are not giving this child the advice or help that they need daily. I hope to become more than just a teacher that is all about books and the curriculum, I want my students to always want to be ready and excited for the next day, that’s how you keep the students off the streets and into the books. I want all my students to succeed and become great at whatever they may do. My legacy would be to have every student know that they were cared for from Ms. Spain. Not, because that’s what teachers should do, but because I took the time to break it down, push them through, and reward them after they have done it. You cannot get rewarded when you have no goals set up. Every student will have a goal and by the end of each semester, I’m determined to push them to meeting that goal. I want everyone to succeed. While teachers give up, I push. While students give up, I push. Meeting goals are important, but to learn while meeting them is amazing. Teaching is not easy and even though I haven’t even started yet, I know that it’s going to be trials and tribulations, but

As a student, I have gone through many teachers, all with lasting impacts, arguably, not all good. Although I cannot say I have looked through the looking glass of the teaching side, or walked a mile in any of my professor’s shoes; I’ve noted there is an importance to teachers who not only develop characters on a page, but the characters of their students. You, Mr. Smith, have dedicated your life to teaching students, enabling their comprehension. As Aristotle says, ‘Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.’…

I knew it was what I wanted to do for a long time, so naturally I decided to choose education for my major. Surprisingly, I have been discouraged by a few of my past teachers who have told me that it isn’t worth it, or that my interest in it will go away quickly. As the end of my senior year rolled around, I had received many negative comments from some teachers and people in my community about my career choice, and was told many times that I should pursue something else. I was still sure it was what I wanted to do with my life, but the negative thoughts did distract me a little bit coming from teachers I respected. I thought back to all the other teachers that I had, and of course my English teacher came to mind frequently.…

These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. I am now finishing up my amazing journey of becoming an elementary teacher. I have learned many techniques and strategies from my professors and mentors. But during my time as a student teacher, I have developed a whole new appreciation for teachers and all of the work that they do every day. For my first student teaching experience I was assigned to Mrs. Jackson’s third grade reading class at the South Side Upper Elementary in Picayune, Mississippi, and for my second experience I was assigned to Mrs. Lenoir’s fifth grade science and social studies class at Pearl River Upper Elementary, which is also located in Picayune. Both experiences were similar in many ways and helped me to grow into a more assertive teacher.…

As for instruction, he would teach and present his instructions to his students verbally at the front of the classroom. One thing that I found really interesting was that before giving the students instructions, he would announce “If you are on your phone texting, snap-chatting, or on Instagram your phone will be mine until 7th hour.” This was interesting because he never had an issue with us using our phones in the past. As he would teach a lesson, he would walk around the classroom and interact with his students. He explained that he now has two class periods that are inclusive classes, which means he has to differentiate and modify his lesson plans.…
