Social Worker Role

The role of a social worker has many interpretations, but I believe a social worker is someone who provides vulnerable people a sense of support and understanding, while supplying them with a safe environment that promotes openness. A social worker promotes this sense of openness and support with individuals that are in need of assistance by, not only developing a personal connection, but also approaching each situation empathetically. These approaches are important because as a professional within the social working field you must treat each individual differently, providing different courses of action that would best cater to the individuals involved, in turn helping families stay together in a healthy union. These establishments are the backbone of what many would consider the key to success. These accomplishments vary between people of all ages, backgrounds and religion. Some seek refuge and immediate housing, others may look for educational and workplace assistance, several seek general help and assistance, and majority of the time, many just want to be a part of a community. I understand that the Brampton Multicultural Community Center offers help to clients in many of these areas. As a volunteer, I would want to be involved in as much as possible; I would like to experience everything that the BMCC offers. I believe it would be a great way to interact with the community, while also providing me with a way to a help, shape, and improve the lives of those around …show more content…
During my previous student placement at JVS, I had the opportunity to help people through guidance and moral support. It’s been a humbling experience and I would very much like to get the chance to continue on this path, while simultaneously supporting the staff and respected cliental. I have been able to utilize my skills as a caregiver and understanding client’s needs, while also maintaining positivity and dedication within the workplace. As a student, I have not only gained experience in developing my own skills, but have also been able to use these experiences and lessons to develop a sense of constructive criticism for personal improvement.
