My Experience As A Dental Assistant

I was introduced to the fascinating world of dentistry during my health check-ups at Military Hospitals, as my father was in the Indian Army and he would make it a regular routine for us. I would see my younger sister detest going to the dentist, due to the fear of the dental chair and the pain associated with the procedure while sitting on it. Slowly, I started thinking about what we should do to make the experience more comfortable. This gradually led to my inclination towards the health sciences and when the time came to make a career choice it was without a doubt to pursue dentistry. I was soon able to realize my dream and was admitted to the Oxford Dental College.
The initial few months were hard as I struggled to cope with the hectic curriculum and my relocation to a new city. I gradually overcame the hiccups with diligence and persistence by making academic progress. As I began working on patients and applied the

As an Assistant, I was able to gain a better understanding of the techniques by being able to observe them closely. The internships and placements helped me immensely as I grasped the various approaches to procedures from different dentists. My interactions with fellow domestic and international students from across the globe made it a fun filled adventure. As the saying goes “Don’t be so busy making a life that you forget to live” I actively involved myself in the community events and was awarded ‘International Student Award’ for my participation in the cultural activities. Upon graduating my foremost priority was to find employment and to put in my papers for Immigration. With suggestions from my instructors and former international graduates, I moved to Manitoba, Winnipeg being my obvious choice considering my age to have an active social life and ample job opportunities. My decision paid off and was hired by Dr. George Stolarskyj whom I assisted for over three and a half
