My Ex-Group Analysis

Decent Essays
One of the main people that I enlisted in my growth throughout the semester is my (now) ex-girlfriend, Bryce. One of our biggest struggles throughout the years has always been her large personality paired with my inability to say no or disappoint others. This often led to many instances where I felt very hurt and used, while she had no idea that her actions were coming off this way. We worked very hard to move my conflict management style from that of avoidance to more compromising. As well as delving deeper into my fear of losing relationships and friendships (possibly professional relationships, as well) from voicing my opinions and needs. As I became more secure in my feelings, and making them know, our friendship grew as she gained respect

Hi Christine! You make a great point for the importance of the “summary and sayback” topic. I also like your reasoning for the “pointing and center of gravity” style. The main idea is the crucial part for an essay, and identifying the main idea helps in being able to fully grasp the whole message of the essay. However, one may still be able to develop their own learnings from a writing essay or prompt by gleaning over important ideas that stand out in their…

On August 11th, 2017, the Unite the Right rally set up by Jason Kessler to display the Neo Nazis, White nationalists, and racist right wing Americans as more than just an internet joke. Things went downhill during this event when the left clashed with the right, followed by both sides fighting police. Later after a state helicopter crash and a car attack on a counter-protest crowd on the 12th had basically caused the event to cease. Only after it was declared hazardous and unlawful by the Virginia state police. The author of E Pluribus ONE, Sophia A. Nelson, wrote an article critiquing the rally and pointing out its’ flaws, issues, and prejudices.…

Next, we seem to think that analysts in the real world take into account the context they are in. Normally we understand that the context in which one finds themselves to be in determines what they are capable of doing, as it place restrictions upon them. In the case of an analyst, the context determines what kinds of decisions they can possibly make . Due to limits on the amount of time that an analyst has, decisions are constrained in the quality of the policies they can recommend. When we have less time we should expect that the recommendations will not be as good as if we had more time.…

“There’s heroes and there’s legends: Heroes get remembered, but legends never die” (The Sandlot). This idea of building a reputation that lives on after one is gone is seen in Beowulf, an epic poem by an unknown author from the mid-sixth century. Nearly everyone cares about how they are perceived and their reputation in one way or another, whether it is striving to make people like them or trying to become an unforgettable legend. In either case, the desire to have a good reputation is a strong motivator to them. The idea that reputation is everything and that one should do anything in their power to uphold and create a strong reputation is highlighted in the poem Beowulf specifically in the character Beowulf.…

When I was younger, my mom would rent out our basement room to single people she would work with in the military. I personally loved it because it meant that there were more people around I could harass into playing with me. However, I was always confused when I would hear my grandparents berate my mother on letting “those people” into our home. I remained confused, until I asked my mother what they meant, and why they were so angry. My mother described to me how “old fashioned” my grandparents were and how they didn’t believe in surrounding not only the family, but me in particular, with people who identified as ‘gay’.…

My focus is on my relationship with my best friend. We have been best friends for a while, coming up on nine years here at the end of the semester. Though we have been best friends for so long, here recently we have had a few instances where we have felt distant and disconnected from one another. We both feel that these feelings are because of our lack of communication. Throughout the entire time of our friendship we have only had a very small amount of issues between us.…

My personal commitment was with my friend Stacy. She has been my friend since my freshman year in college, but through the years we have slowly distanced ourselves from each other due to different classes and busy schedules. We were as close as sisters and now, in our last semester as juniors, have not seen each other since sophomore year. We occasionally text each other 3 or 4 times a month, which is different from 3 or 4 times a week like we did our first year of college. My commitment was to change my attitude from being distant and busy, to one that was cheerful and supportive.…

First thing’s first, I’m not much for talking about myself, because it makes me feel a bit narcissistic. Growing up, I was raised with three older brothers, and my parents divorced when I was only four, but it doesn’t bother me, because it’s not like I actually remember them being together. My dad had a daughter when my parents met, and my mom had two sons, so I guess I forgot to mention that two out of three of my brothers are halves, as well as my sister, but she and I don’t speak. Growing up, my youngest years have been the best of my life, and when I say younger, I mean seven and down. Middle school was the worst for me, and I’m so happy to be out of that stage.…
