It started to go to me, but then my amazing mother sat down and had a talk with me. She told me about her childhood and how she was bullied. My mother is legally deaf and has been since birth. So she never caught a break, kids would take her behind a tree on the playground and make fun of her, talk about her hearing aids, teachers would drop comments, her parents did not care about her hearing disability. Finally, one teacher called her parents in for a conference and told them that my mom needed help. It took a while but her parents finally woke up and …show more content…
Chelsea works in a clinic with Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist so not only did I get to see what a Speech Pathologist does I was able to see what a Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist do also. Chelsea worked with children which is one of the age groups I want to work with. We went through her daily life at work, she had patients with Down syndrome, stroke patients, some completely deaf and mute patients, and others. That day showed me how big of an impact a Speech Pathologist can have on someone. The smiles that they kids had on their faces when she walked in the door were so heartwarming. Even the kids that threw a fit and did not want to come, after getting them calmed down they were the sweetest and such an inspiration. When I left my heart was filled with

Have you ever seen a fish out of the water? How it flips, flaps, wiggles and gasps for oxygen because it clearly doesn’t belong anywhere but the water? That’s how I felt in the fifth grade. I was born and raised in a very poor community in East Side, San Jose for it was all my dad could afford. No, I did not complain because to me it was like my Mexican castle…

I didn't always live in my current town that I do now, but I’m glad I do now. Before I had moved I used to go to a school where I was the only kid being bullied, by everyone. As a result of his imprisonment, my parents got a divorce and I had to live with my grandmother. In a sense, I nevermore saw my dad and I barely saw my mother because she worked late. It was difficult to remain focus in school when every night you wonder why your father is never around and every morning you hold 5-second meetings with your mother on your way to school.…

Quote: ‘…Not only did I not get picked on, but I was completely ignored by everyone” (page #47) Personal Connection: I was the laughing stock of the class, the one that got picked on and everyone made fun of. When I first commuted from the ludicrous state of Spain into the great America it was not a pleasant time. It was when I was in about third grade when I was forced to go into the demented school with all of the other classmates. I was the easy target to get picked on as I didn’t understand the language and people could call me names and make fun of me with no precautions.…

That is the reason I am standing here before every one of you now, yet when I say this, I am recognizing that it's not on account of my capacity, but rather it's the finesse of God, the backing of BUV and Whitley School, and my church leaders and members and friends. I know Jesus is constantly living up to expectations throughout my life consistently. I know He is giving me effortlessness and peace.
