My Essay On RADA

As an actor, I have always struggled to bring forth the maturity that Shakespeare requires, along with attempting to break from the ‘musical theatre’ mold I have thrown myself into. I want to go to RADA not because I am the best, not because I am experienced, but because RADA is. The faculty consists of many renowned actors, directors, and teachers alike. More often than not, whenever I am enjoying a movie, television show, or play, upon looking into the actor I am most impressed by I find that at one point or another, that actor has attended RADA. Beautiful artists like Vivien Leigh, Anthony Hopkins, and Alan Rickman. Just the idea of walking through those halls, working with the very teachers that helped shape such talented performers is enough motivation to apply. …show more content…
Shakespeare has a way of making language sound romantic and poetic, so much so that he can make a speech about a brothel sound like a song. Words as gorgeous as his deserve to be spoken by actors who have studied and toiled over his work, and the training at RADA is like no other. Through voice, performance, speech, song, dance, clown, AND armed combat, it is hard to think of any other training an actor could possibly need. I can promise that I will put in an endless amount of effort and passion into my work simply because, in my opinion, there is no other way to succeed. If given the opportunity, I will take advantage of all the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art has to offer. I have a love, a passion, and a dedication for theatre and Shakespeare, and I only hope RADA pushes me to push that love, passion, and dedication
