When I the Psycholinguistics course, one of the things I enjoyed the most about it was that my professor utilized so many different types of assignments and activities to help us with the material. The majority of the classes I have taken here at Temple have relied on a straightforward PowerPoint lecture format. The first time I read through the entire thing without stopping or making notes. The second time around I would highlight information I thought was important. The third time I read I would look specifically for where in the article the answers to the required reading questions could be found. This helped me because the articles were very dense and long and it was too difficult to understand them in a single reading. For exams, the thing that helped me the most in my preparation was attending the review sessions that were held by the class preceptor. In lectures, my mentor typically presents concepts or definitions of terms in one consistent manner. For the tests, however, it is expected that the students can use these definitions to answer questions that are phrased conversely. So far, in my exam review sessions and office hours I have tried to explain that there will be questions about concepts that will not be asked differently from how they are shown in the PowerPoints and review materials. I think that this helped some students in their studying but for others it did not. For the second half of the semester I plan on trying to change how I ask questions in review sessions so that they will have more familiarity with the different question formats that they will encounter in the
