We had to interview someone and then go on to write about them, focusing on one topic. After writing multiple interview questions and actually asking the questions I had come up with, I learned that it is better to start off with general questions and see what happens. I was asking questions as I had created them without focusing on what could be useful leading information that came from their answers. I then decided to do a follow up interview as my revision of the profile project. Before I began my follow up interview, I went over what answers I received previously and looked to see where useful information could be found. I inserted follow up questions in places they could be used. During the second interview, I found myself not focusing on a script but it felt more like a conversation about someone’s life. I avoided a book at all cost because that it is what I had done the previous time I wrote and review and it was embarrassing. I chose something familiar to me, something I enjoyed and something that people could relate to. I chose the steak house, Texas Roadhouse. I then began making lists after lists describing pros and cons, places it compared to and gathering useful quotes and sources. After I had my ideas put into the messiest form of writing possible, I continued to make more lists. This time I focused on organization and where my information would be best used. My next step was the scariest part, putting together my information and forming an essay. Though I did have 3 drafts before I finally reached a product I was satisfied with, it actually was not as bad as I had perceived. The review essay came to me much easier than expected. I used knowledge I had learned earlier in the semester through the other projects: it does not have to be scripted, I can always start over, I understand how to use citations, and grammar is not that scary and just go with the
