Due to this, I would say I was “chubby” or an obese kid. I was still very fond of sports, but I never really was able to flourish in a sport that would make me stand out from other children my age. In sixth grade I joined the Jr. High Track and Field team to maybe find something I could challenge myself with. Without a doubt in my mind, I threw shot put and discus, because of my “not so stunning” physique. Moreover, I enjoyed being a thrower although I knew it definitely wasn’t my calling. Two more years went by, and my 8th grade Track and Field season approached. During this period of my life I hit puberty, and I was more slender than I was before. I knew at that time I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone and actually wanted to try racing. With that being said, I always looked up to runners because I thought that they had exceptional talent to be able run considering I was “just a thrower.” This mindset was my ideology that was going to fuel my ambitions of striving to not only better myself, but become a runner and prove to all the other children my age that I wasn’t “just a
