My Educational Influence
Starting back to school is a challenging task for many students, especially when juggling work, family, and social obligations. We all have reasons and inspirations for pursuing higher education, whether it be for personal growth, work-related, or setting up a better future for our family.My personal reason is stability and betterment for my children.Being a single mother of two has presented challenges for my life with securing a stable career that will provide for both of their needs.I attended college before, graduating with a certification in Medical Assisting, but found that I was still struggling to make ends meet. With me being in school alongside him, he is accepting and comforted by the fact that everyone struggles in certain areas of their education.He is learning new ways to study, reflect, and manage his academic roles by watching me in how I handle school with every-day life. I have noticed that the more confident I am in my education, the less stressed he is about his.This alone has influenced me greatly to do my best when pursuing my academic goals.I try to encourage myself and my children that education is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves that absolutely no one can take away from us. I also try to encourage the fact that no matter what mistakes we have made in our past, they do not define us.

God allowed me to go through my addiction and overcome it so that I can help others that find themselves facing the same disease. I am pursing a psychology degree with the intent of going into substance abuse counseling.
