For example, I have put in great effort to make sure I incorporate an item from each food group atleast once a day, if not more. As I reflect on the days I recorded my food intake, I noticed, specifically in my breakfast, I covered almost every food group. For breakfast, I would eat two pieces of wheat toast with peanut butter and honey (grains and protein), two boiled eggs (protein), a banana (fruit), a glass of milk (dairy), and two slices of bacon (protein). Sometimes, I would eat yougurt instead of milk to fufill my dairy product intake. Later in the day, I would eat either a bowl of broccoli or a salad to implement a serving amount of vegetables. One reason is that I see an increase in my daily performance; it encourages me to improve in other areas as well. Recently, I have started a 90-day workout program with two of my close friends. Our physical goals are quite different; yet, there is still a similar understanding of what a healthy diet consists of. My goal is to gain healthy weight and convert it into muscle. In order to do that, my diet should include more protein and complex carbohydrates. Compared to one of my friends, her goal is to loose her excess fat; therefore, her diet includes more green vegetables. Our personal trainer emphasized that in order to gain or loose weight, one must eat atleast five nutritous meals per day, get an adequate amount of rest and drink plenty of water, specifically freshly-squeezed lemon water. Though this may be challenging, it is vital that my diet compliments my physical activity. This ‘Rate My Plate’ assignment has helped me to keep track of my workout out plan, in addition to my nutritious diet.
