My Dream School Essay

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is my dream school. My most favorite parts about the university is the 21:1 student- faculty ratio, the beautiful location near the water, and the fact that my major of social work is offered there. Every piece of mail I get sent by UWGB I read so I can continue learning more about the school I hope to attend. Both of my real parents never went to college, neither did my brothers, so I will be the first. After reading that 58% of students are the first in their family to attend college made me feel so much better about my case. My parents are separated but I live with my mom and step-father. My two older brothers that do not always behave, but boys will be boys. My past with my father has not always been …show more content…
I later started volunteering with the Nekoosa Lions group who were all in their middle fifties and older. My mother was the youngest member of the Lions so I got to hear about all the events they were doing first-hand. I wanted to help them out but I never could since the people who ran some of the events had to be over eighteen or twenty-one. I called up a few of my friends and asked them if they wanted to start doing volunteering as well. I started a group called Nekoosa Lion Misses, which included me and five other close girl friends. We got together once a week for a miniature meeting to see what new events we could either create or go to to help. We picked up trash around local businesses, created a homecoming parade float and won runner up, visited a blind camp and donated used glasses so they could be made into new ones, and visited a nursing home my mother used to work at so we could give the elderly something to look forward to whenever we came. One hot day in the summer the Nekoosa Lion Misses got together, filled up water balloons, gathered some Hawaiian decorations, and took a trip to the nursing home. My mother …show more content…
I attended a full day of listening to prior students talk about their experiences and taking a tour around campus. I also got to look around at different stands and see what extra events go on at school including the learning abroad opportunities. I really enjoyed seeing the different buildings which all had their own purpose. I loved the Kress Center since it seems like a great place to unwind and exercise after classes. It seemed like such an open community for chances to play sports and get to know more people. Hearing about the theatre nights for only a few dollars also excited me since college can get overwhelming. My favorite part of my visit was talking to this past years social work graduates and hearing their personal stories. They shared really useful information and encouraged me to work hard and pursue my dream of being like them as an accomplished social worker. I also heard from this select group of students that you do not need to live on campus any of the years you attend the school. I was extremely pleased to hear this since I planned to get my own apartment and be able to have my dog with me closer to the school. I am still planning on meeting many new friends that could possibly stay in my life forever. I plan on working at the local Shopko since I already work at the one in my hometown. I talked to my manager and he already told me that transferring me

Girl Scouts was a big part of my life when I was young and it really helped prepare me for the future in some ways. I learned a lot about responsibility during our famous cookie sales. When we did our booth sales I got a lot of practice trying to make good sales. I was often told that I would make a great saleswoman which is a great skill to have when looking for a job. The camping trips helped me learn a little more about independence, responsibility, and respect.…

Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to help people. Being a Boy Scout gave me the opportunity to do so. When I was eight years old I joined the cub scouts which began my life long campaign of helping people. I started off learning to take the oath to serve the people weather it be by the organization or myself. I assisted by selling popcorn for charity organizations ( The San Antonio Food Bank and The Knights of Columbus) or for money that we needed for our camp out trips.…

My personal narrative essay is about my transfer from Bible Baptist to Savannah Christian and my feelings towards the process of transferring and the first day at Savannah Christian. Overall the transfer was better than I presumed it would be because I sustained a better education than I did at Bible Baptist. The transfer taught me that sometimes change is for the greater good. If I had the ability to go back in time and tell my future self-something about this situation it would be not to be nervous just breathe. Finding out I was going to a new school could be compared to when I found out my first fish had died, heartbreaking.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

In high school, I joined Key Club, where I sold flowers for powder puff, volunteered at my elementary school’s Trunk or Treat, and helped with the book and coat drive.
