Reflection Paper About Becoming A Teacher

When asked, young girls will often tell you that they would like to be a teacher when they grow up. I was no exception. For many of my young years, if asked, I would not hesitate to say that I was going to be a teacher! Somehow, I ended up being a radio announcer. While I am truly fortunate to have found a job straight out of high school that I was able to make a career out of for the past 17 years, I always regretted not following my dream of becoming a teacher. As life went on, I got married and had 2 beautiful daughters. As my daughters got older and I spent more time involved in their activities, I spent more time with children in their age groups. For example, I volunteered at their preschool, coached many seasons of AYSO soccer, and served …show more content…
This class helped me achieve my role of being a teacher by allowing me a glimpse of important issues that I need to be aware of in my journey. Throughout this semester I have evaluated, researched, and analyzed not only my own experiences and personal beliefs but also the expectations that others will have of me as an educator. While I have learned many valuable lessons in this course, there are some that stand out to me. The three things that I found particularly valuable in this class is how to create a positive classroom environment, effective teaching practices, and lesson …show more content…

As a student, I have gone through many teachers, all with lasting impacts, arguably, not all good. Although I cannot say I have looked through the looking glass of the teaching side, or walked a mile in any of my professor’s shoes; I’ve noted there is an importance to teachers who not only develop characters on a page, but the characters of their students. You, Mr. Smith, have dedicated your life to teaching students, enabling their comprehension. As Aristotle says, ‘Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.’…

I knew from a young age that teaching was what I was meant to do. Shadowing a teacher for a day in eight grade cemented for me that I was going to be a teacher. While the age of the student I was wanting to teach has changed as I've gotten older that drive to teach has never left. Working as an Educational Assistant at St. Louis Community College has only poured gasoline on that fire and passion for teaching. I can no longer put off pursuing my education to become a mathematics professor.…

Honestly, I never thought I would ever be interested in being a teacher. All throughout my early childhood, I always wanted to be a doctor; I loved the idea of assisting others in their time of need and even saving their lives from time to time. Unfortunately, I realized as I got older that I really was not interested in (or good at) math or science; therefore, that dream died quite quickly. Having been fortunate enough to having supportive parents, I have always felt that I was able to experiment and pursue the subjects that interested me the most; however, I had no idea that my interests would revolve around the world of music. My passion for music and the education that I was lucky enough to have received have both made me strive to discover…
