My dream of being accepted into the Air Force Academy began several years ago when my grandfather sparked up a conversation with me about the military. I can remember it like it was yesterday, although it seems so long ago. We were sitting on the back porch, where my grandfather smoked his cigars and contemplated over life. With a smile on his face, he reminisced about his 28 years of service in the United States Air Force. He was a young pilot traveling on a train when WWII was called. He proudly served in the Korean and Vietnam War, flying B25 and B52 airplanes. Within these years of service, he was honored with multiple medals. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Lt.
