Considering I have typical Indian parents, my life is constantly revolving around homework. For them, it is vital that I have good grades and that I become either a doctor or engineer. If I get 90, they will ask why not a 100? If I get a 100, they will ask why I didn’t get extra credit. Below a 90 was not even acceptable. Yet, this has in fact taught me to focus and persevere and it has made me the grade-oriented student that I am now. School is very important to me, along with rank and GPA, but I have other interests as well. I’ve played piano for quite a few years as well as clarinet in band for 4 years. Music has always been a big part of my life and it has taught me the of being a team player. By practicing and playing my portion of the music, trusting others to finish their portion, communicating, and adapting to others’ tempo and beat, I learned and developed the characteristics of being a team player. This leads to my next interest, which also requires teamwork, HOSA and health care. As the Vice President of HOSA at our school, I not only used my acquired teamwork skills, but also explored the vast field of health care and now I know that I definitely want to be a doctor or surgeon, if not something else in medicine. Well, I, for one, want to learn writing skills that will not only let me pass English, like the past, but also help in the future for things like college applications, essays, job resumes, or research papers. All my past English classes have never been challenging enough and we had a lot of busy work and free time. In order to maximize efficiency and have a quality classroom, our class time should be spent practicing our writing, analyzing, and preparing for the AP exam where both the students and teacher work diligently and participate
