My Dream Career As A Career In Psychology

From the tender age of 4 I always knew what I wanted to be, there was no doubt in my mind that I would grow up to be one of the greatest elementary school teachers that ever lived. I was so sure this was the career path for me that I never considered another option; I was going to be a teacher. This was all true, until my senior year of high school, where I came face to face with my new passion during my first college course, “Intro to Psychology.” The professor was amazing; he went over all the concepts of psychology, the most influential psychologist and some career options in psychology. I was always considered the “Dr.Phil” for my family and friends, so with my new found love of psychology, I was immediately intrigued by the idea of becoming a clinical psychologist. The following year when I went off to college I decided to major in psychology with the hopes of becoming a clinical psychologist and one day opening my own practice. Three years later I graduated with my B.S in Psychology as planned, but the plan of becoming a clinical psychologist withered away. During the three years at school, I …show more content…
This is also important because although I will have my masters in I/O Psychology I believe it is always best to set yourself apart from the rest. Many will have the degree, many will have the experience, so taking more courses outside of Brooklyn College and being certified shows that I am prepared for the job and will stand out from the other candidates. I researched certifications in human resources management, and some certifications I found were, “Strategic Human Resources Leadership,” “Social Media in HR,” and “HR Strategy and Development.” I would then consider other certifications later on in my career such as, Professional of Human Resources (PHR) and Certified Employment Benefits Specialist
