No matter how long it may take you to achieve the goal of graduating and getting your degree you should be excited that you stuck through hard times to accomplish the goal. The reason for me stating that is because in sports some students do not see the value in doing both which is going to school and trying to get better at what they love to do. They think that school shouldn’t be needed if they are that good talent wise, but I think otherwise but something of that field can be taken away from you easily because of an injury or things of that nature. So, an education to student athletes is needed no matter how good you think you are because it can be your fall back plan if things do not go your way in sports. The film “Hoop Dreams” helps explains this because William was very injury prone at the end of his high school career which followed him into college, because he was so likely to get injured he knew that his career in basketball wouldn’t last but since he also received help from teacher at his high school he was more than likely to do good in college in which he did to be able to fall back on his mind to land him another job instead of just focusing on basketball to be his only job in life.…

If you are given the opportunity to receive an education and to play a sport to represent your school, take that opportunity. Do not ask for more if what is given is enough. Take advantage of what is given and most importantly, take everything serious. As Davis Malone said, “The number of jobs requiring higher education is only going to get larger and larger as more Americans graduate with degrees.” More jobs are going to be requiring degrees from students and jobs are going to make sure that the level of education is high.…

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

Trying out for a varsity sport as a junior, with never having played on the junior varsity team as freshman or sophomore, was definitely a bold move. When I first entered the information meeting in room 306, I immediately felt intimated INTIMIDATED seeing THE PLAYERS WHO HAD BEEN PLAYING TOGETHER for the last two years.…

I was not surprised—I knew the basic principles of exercise—but my knowledge had not prevented me from feeling like I was barely improving during those practices. The season finally began that fall, and I was disappointed to hear that I had not been chosen as a starter for the team. All hope was not lost, however, because the coach told the backup players that if we improved, we could be made starters. The season went on and I kept improving and finally, we made it to the state championships. After substituting in the end of the semi-finals, my coach pulled me aside and told me that I would be starting as middle linebacker for the final championship game.…
