What Is Identity Foreclosure Crisis?

I was born on February, 2nd, 1997, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. From that point on my life has been altered and molded both by nature and nurture. Human development is anything but simple it is multidirectional, multi-contextual, multicultural, multidisciplinary, and plastic. Throughout the past 19 years of my life I have gone through many biosocial, cognitive, psychosocial changes, and will go through many more are as the years go on.
My mom comes from a family of nine, and my Dad comes from a family of five. I am the oldest child in my family, I was the first child for both of my parents, the first grandchild to all four of my grandparents, and the first niece to all eight of my aunt 's and uncles. Erickson 's fifth stage is called identity versus role confusion. (Berger, 2014). According to Erickson, this crisis is solved with identity achievement. (Berger, 2014). Erickson states that identity foreclosure is, "when an adolescent adopts parents’ or society’s roles and values wholesale, without questioning or analysis" (Berger, 2014, p.458). My hope is to one day become a high school English teacher, but a part of me has always wondered if that is what I really want to do or if it something that has been chosen for me. As stated previously, I am the oldest in my family and as of now, I have 2 younger siblings and 19 younger cousins. I have been a mentor, teacher, and role model to all of them for the past 19 years. It has something that has always come naturally to me. I remember when I was in 2nd grade, and we were at a family Christmas party.
