My mom comes from a family of nine, and my Dad comes from a family of five. Erickson 's fifth stage is called identity versus role confusion. (Berger, 2014). According to Erickson, this crisis is solved with identity achievement. (Berger, 2014). Erickson states that identity foreclosure is, "when an adolescent adopts parents’ or society’s roles and values wholesale, without questioning or analysis" (Berger, 2014, p.458). My hope is to one day become a high school English teacher, but a part of me has always wondered if that is what I really want to do or if it something that has been chosen for me. As stated previously, I am the oldest in my family and as of now, I have 2 younger siblings and 19 younger cousins. I have been a mentor, teacher, and role model to all of them for the past 19 years.
