An effective leader is the first one to get up and the last one to eat and the last one to bed. A true leader is someone who doesn’t undertake the strenuous job of leading for the glory and admiration, but for the sense of joy and accomplishment his team feels afterward. Through my experiences with Venture Crew, a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts, I have learned firsthand the definition of servant leadership; putting your groups’ wellbeing over your own benefit. Leaders shouldn’t bark orders or only oversee the work, leaders need to work with their team and pitch in to help reach the goal. When I was as NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training), I learned how to cultivate my ability to be a leader; you have to listen to everyone in the group in order to find common ground to help facilitate the group’s actions.…

Altough these identified qualities should exemplify what the leader of the school should possess, they are used to find a replacement principal. This year, I have changed school and have most recently gone through this process.…

In “The Change Leader,” by Michael Fullan, the idea of strong leadership skills being a critical virtue that all adults that are educating children should have and that powerful school leaders are key to a successful education reform. Fallan adds that hiring top performing principles and gratifying good principle performance is immensely important and providing strong principle guidance becomes very rewarding. I strongly agree with the idea of starting an education reformation with powerful and effective principles and teachers because it provides a trustworthy relationship between administration, parents, and students. My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…
