Personally, the sense of beauty is a very emotional experience. When I see something beautiful, it makes me pause whatever I am doing and take notice. At first, I feel a sense of slow creeping calm as my eyes settle to the main focus on the focal point. In the artwork of Thomas Kerr that was easy to establish. Nature has no rules, as soon as something you believe to see as beautiful catches your eye, it changes. No sunset is ever exactly the same color scheme or layout again. A fallen tree in the midst of a forest will not look exactly the same way tomorrow. This is why I chose Setting as my topic, it signifies a big part of what I find beautiful in nature. It has the soft clouds wafting into the sky. Yet the bright sun mixes in with its burst of colorful sunset. As the water drifts towards the viewer, it becomes lighter and has more pigment. It captures a once in a lifetime sunset that will never be the same. However, I do believe that beauty can also be expressed through an artwork's compositional elements.
