My Defining Moment Research Paper

My defining moment would be the absence of a father in my life. I grew up without my father and my mom was always working two jobs in order to provide for me and my older sisters. my mother taught me so many things growing up without even telling me a word. My relationship with my mother was never the best til I got to college. As i grew up I never questioned why my father was never around or when he was going to come along. I felt like not having a father made me a tough cookie. I didn't have my mother or father to baby me around. Like I mentioned before my mother worked two jobs and was never really around to help with homework or take me to the park. Without my mother actually telling me to be independent I became independent on my own without my father there and my mother always working. I have no memory of ever asking my older …show more content…
As I got older and I was able to get out of the playpen my mother took me to a baby sitter. I clearly remember it like it was yesterday and I hated it. I didn't want to be watched over I wanted to be free and independent. when I turned 8 I begged my mother to let me go to work with her to help her out. She let me help her one day and she noticed I was a pretty good worker so I started to work with her every weekend up until I graduated high school. It was hard work because I was always on my feet and we had a lot of clientele. I also had school the next morning and remember it was hard waking up for school and staying awake in class I knew my education was important and I did not want to be working my whole life like this. I wanted to get an education and go to college to be a successful women.I did learn many skills working with my mother for example: customer service skills, being a cashier, profit and working at a fast pace
