Introduction I chose to interview a clinical supervisor at Aspen Pointe, who works in the adult and rural services division. To give a little background on Aspen Pointe it is one of the largest nonprofits in Colorado Springs, with roots that trace back 140 years to when it was called the Springs Relief Society (Aspen Pointe, n.d.). Aspen Pointe provides behavioral health care to the community, one patient at a time, they provide mental health and substance abuse services along with career and education enhancement programs for individuals and families (Aspen Pointe, n.d.). I will go into the interview in more depth in the next section of the paper.

Kierstie fall in the category of specialist because she is a clinician supervisor that specializes in trauma care. The definition of a specialist is a helper that is characterized by certification from professional groups, licenses by governing bodies, and degrees form educational institutions (Woodside & McClam, 2015). Kierstie has both a degree from an educational institution and is licensed in professional counseling which matches two of the three different categories that define a specialist. There are three areas of professional responsibility and each of those has their own roles which is what I will discuss

I interviewed Dr. Nora Reilly who works at Radford University in the Psychology department on March 2, 2016. I had a class with Dr. Reilly last semester in industrial/organizational psychology. I interviewed Dr. Reilly in her office in Russell hall, which was a little disorganized with her packing her things for the move to the new building. She was wearing a pantsuit like she typically does and her hair is short and gray. I thought she would be an interesting person to interview because she is not the “typical” female.…

Many people who experience symptoms of mental health or who have been diagnosed with a mental illness have stated that they felt as though their symptoms are dismissed, or lessened (Itkowitz, 2016). As much as there has been progress with many shows changing the narratives of mental illness and online supports, there is still a definite stigma attached to being diagnosed with mental illness (Itkowitz, 2016). I decided to read Megan Rotatori’s survival story. I chose to read her story because I saw her picture and thought that she appears to be someone who many people would not believe to have a mental health diagnosis (Rotatori, 2014). The 20-year-old college student who is currently studying nursing at University of Vermont stated that she…

To treat the client, we need to identify what the priorities of treatment are. To do this, we need to identify the main points to address, which one should be addressed first, and provide a rationale for why this was the case.
