Personal Narrative: My First Spring Break

So it was about three weeks before Spring Break and I had to make up my mind about what I was to do because I didn’t want to be cooped up in the house like I do annually anyways. My cousin Josiah had opened that opportunity up for me. He had asked me if I wanted to go to New York with him over the Spring Break and meet my other family. At first, I paid him no mind because I thought he was buffing until his mom called me and asked if I was coming or not. She told me that if I was coming, have my mom call her so they could discuss further details about me coming. My mom said I could go for the break only if I behaved in school and had my grades up. I had done as she instructed and was extremely amped up for going to a city I thought I wouldn …show more content…
I was just ready to get it over with. So March 17 came and we were headed out to the airport around 5 o’clock in the morning. I was so nervous that I slept the whole ride to the airport. When we arrived at Memphis airport, Josiah said, ¨Mike follow me so you don 't get lost¨ , I laughed and said, ¨okay¨. It was about 30 minutes before our plane was to take off so we just chilled in the boarding area until it was time to board the plane. After maybe 10 minutes I started having butterflies in my stomach, I thought to myself, ¨Do you really wanna do this Kinsey or do you just wanna back out and go home.¨ My thoughts were racing and I became scared then all of sudden Josiah grabbed my arm and said, ¨Mike it’s time to board.¨ I then said to myself, ¨I came this far, I´ll be fine if it´s my time, hey it´s just my time.¨ We make it down the ramp leading to the plane and the baggage handler asked, ¨May I have your bag sir?¨ I politely gave him the bag and said, ¨Thank you¨ and then proceeded to the plane. I´m thinking Josiah, Bailey, and I were all going to be seated together but, as we got on the plane they said, ¨ Go find your seat Mike, we not all seated together.¨ My eyes widen and I sighed in distraught as in like can this ride get any worser. While on the plane the aircrew had stated we would be having a slight delay to New York/Newark, NJ due to …show more content…
All you could hear was his mother expressing her frustration, “How the hell he expect me to take him to the mall and I gotta spend money the whole time you all are here on the trip, Michael. SHIT! I should have left his ungrateful ass in West Helena if I knew it was gonna be a problem soon y’all got here.” While this was happening I remember the time me and my pops got into an argument about soon I made it to his house one summer. So I was on my way to his house one summer and he told me over the phone soon I made it their he would take me to South Haven to exchange the shoes he had bought me, but when I arrived to his house he wanna say, “uhm lil mike we gone have to wait until Saturday to take your shoes back because i’m going to be busy all day.” I replied, “mane I thought we were going today, I have someone to meet tomorrow so we gotta go today” in a demanding voice, which upsetted him I oppose. He started hollering, “if you keep talking shit, ion taking yo ass nowhere so what you better do is stay in a kid place before I put that belt on yo ass and take them shoes back to get my money!” I just walked out the house and went to hoop because I was mad and didn’t wanna say something I would later regret but, anyways back to the story I say about 2 to 3 days had passed and all
