Anabell: A Short Story

Improved Essays
eing the only girl and growing up with two brothers, an older brother and a younger brother, I was always use to playing with boy toys or playing with all my Barbie’s or Polly Pockets alone. It wasn’t until we moved to America where I was finally given the chance to associate myself with a girl playmate that was not far from my age. Her name is Anabell, and she is my cousin that is only a year younger than I am. Growing up, Anabell and I did everything together; from playing our Barbie’s and Polly Pockets together, dressing up in similar clothes, singing in the church choir together, people would even often ask us if we were twins, we were pretty much inseparable. Anabell’s personality is completely opposite from mine but our minds somehow …show more content…
She always makes sure to fill in her eyebrows before she leaves the house and is not the type to put on makeup every day. Anabell is the type of girl that loves accessories, from earrings to rings to necklaces, every outfit she puts together needs to have some sort of accessory or else she will feel incomplete. She has a unique sense of fashion and prefers vintage clothing and accessories over shopping at typical girl stores like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. Although she prefers vintage clothing, she likes to mix it up with some modernized fashion styles as well. Anabell prefers closed toed shoes, so she wears a lot of Vans, Converse, Nikes and boots. She likes to keep her nails long and loves to change her nail color very often. She prefers dark colors over light colors and you can see her often having at least one black or one dark color associated with her outfits and …show more content…
She has a lot of ambitions for herself and for her parents. Kind hearted, intelligent and caring would be just some of the few words to describe her. Being that she’s an only child, she is very close to her mom. Anabell is one of those kids that would never talk back or snap on her parents regardless of how upset she would get with her mom or her dad whenever they do not meet eye to eye on certain things. When she gets in trouble, she simply just stays quiet and hopes things eventually cool down and subside. She is also apologetic and regardless if it was or was not her fault, she would be the first to apologize to patch things up. Whenever she is upset at someone, you won’t ever hear her go off or talk bad about them, she’ll simply just draw to relieve her stress or stay on her laptop and listen to music until her anger has subsided. It is one of the things admirable about her; she can contain her angst and not blow up. Growing up, I was able to experience firsthand how she goes about and handles her anger in such a calm manner. Up until now, even though she’s in San Francisco and I am in Los Angeles, whenever she would get in trouble, she would just have one long conversation with me to let things out and eventually lets it go. Anabell has never held a grudge and I do not think it is part of her personality to do so. Aside from that, Anabell also has a great sense of humor. She’s a very happy person and loves to

If anyone were asked to describe her, feisty, rude, blunt, hostile, anything along those lines would most likely be their response. Ask her counterpart, or a close friend, and it's possible that they would respond a simple "bittersweet". On the off occasion where her blonde roots showed as the pink dye wore away, the dark circles under her eyes would be amplified, and her voice would be uncharacteristically quiet. On those rare days, she wouldn't go out. At least not to more then one place.…

When I was young, my sister and I never got along well. Neither of us were afraid to voice our thoughts, but we had opposite personalities, so that was an enormous complication. She would constantly whine whenever I practice the violin or piano that I was too loud and it was drowning out the music she was listening to. In return, I would always retort that her music was too loud and distracting. Well, I never actually called it “her music”: I referred to it as “garbage”.…

In my essay I will be contrasting and comparing the two female characters Mandisa and Thando from John Kani’s award winning play Nothing but the truth. My main focus will be on both Mandisa and Thando’s personalities ,background, achievements and professions Thando Makhaya is Sipho Makhaya’s daugther who is the main character of the play. Thando is a honest, loyal, patient, caring, selfless, respectful and loving she worked as a teacher and as an interpreter at the Truth and Reconciliation commision amnesty hearings I think both her jobs reflect well on her her life and personality. Because I believe that the TRC hearings will help her find closure about what happened to her brother Luvuyo (Kani,2002,20) Thando comes across as a very traditonal…
