I always wanted to stay at a Bed & Breakfast for a romantic getaway with my honey. After an exhaustive search I was so happy to find one it New England. Just to be sure I spoke with the proprietor on the phone and asked about the accessibility before we booked our romantic excursion. I was thrilled when they told me that they had a relative in a wheelchair and were very sensitive to the needs of the disabled and we had nothing to worry about. They promised us a wonderful time. It had a wheelchair accessible bathroom like I have always dreamed of with a wonderful roll in shower, sinks the wheelchair could fit under and the option of an old-fashioned tub, if you were physically able. We joked and said, we could party in the bathroom because of its size. They even had a wheelchair accessible deck with a beautiful view. This is where the beauty ended!!!
To our horror, they had a four poster bed that you needed a step stool to get onto. No, that's not a typo, I said a step stool, in a handicapped accessible room! PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS!! When my husband and I looked at the proprietor's in confusion and amazement the husband said, "I tried to talk my wife out of it, but she loved the bed and insisted on it. Come on, people, REALLY!!! We were hours and hours from home and just wanted to rest. Luckily, they also had a trundle bed in the room as well so sleeping would be possible. We felt a little defeated, but stayed.
We went out for a nice dinner and did some sight-seeing. When we returned to the room we realized that the trundle bed wasn't big enough for the two of us and I didn't want my husband to take the chance of injuring his already bad back. So our romantic getaway night consisted of me in the trundle bed and my husband in the "bed in the sky". So much for
