My Grand Car Narrative

I had watched my grandpa fix up his 1950 Dodge truck every chance I got for four wonderful years. The day he trailered that truck home from St. Louis was the same day that my interest in classic cars sparked. That day I knew I wanted to fix up a classic car of my own. My grandpa must have seen the spark in my eyes that day because he searched Craigslist endlessly for who knows how many months trying to find me a car.
It was a cold fall day in the middle of November. There was a slight breeze that would send shivers down your spine. My friend Victoria and I had stayed the night at my dad’s. I had gotten a text from my grandpa that morning asking if I would rather have a two door or four door car. One of the Plymouth Valiant’s he had found on Craigslist was located up in Iowa and the other was located in Liberty. I told him I would rather have the four door, since I was young and had planned on my friends riding with me all around town. At the time though, I had no idea what a Plymouth Valiant looked like, so I googled images. I immediately fell in love. That same day my grandpa had called the guy and set up an appointment to go look at the car. While I was running errands with Victoria I got a call from my grandpa. He told me he had a surprise for me. I told him I would swing by

I’m still that same young girl who gets a thrill when I turn the key and hear her mean rumble. I really cherish the day I got Valley. She opened up a lot of new doors for me. Now that I’ve learned of my love for classic cars, I have big dreams of fixing up a lot of classic cars when I’m older. I can’t wait to have a backyard full of a ton of older cars waiting to be restored to beauty some day. Not only did I learn of my love for classics, but she’s the reason I’ve slowly learned how to work on cars. Another added bonus is that I get to spend a lot of quality time with my grandpa and we get to spend time bonding over our love for

On a beautiful clear morning of February the 19th, my mom picked me up from my class at the University of West Georgia, then we went to Waffle House to have a nice breakfast. We left from Waffle House, proceeding down Maple Street, and turned onto South Street and immediately onto Kenner Street. We then turned onto on the merging lane on South Park Street (US Hwy 27) heading south, we immediately halted to a full stop as vehicles moved from the middle lane into the merging lane in front of us, but at that time there were no vehicles behind us. As we waited to enter traffic, a car suddenly struck us from behind which caused the car to jerk violently forward, causing my mother’s chest to hit the steering wheel, and our heads and bodies to whip forward and then back.…

Ury once said, “ It is simply self expression of one’s personality of bringing junkers back from the dead, in their own creative way.” The idea of souped up rides came from all the intense modifications to technology already complex for this time period. The owners of these cars would tweak their engines in order to create a faster model.…

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

100 Miles per Hour, Upside Down and Sideways Rick Bragg’s 100 Miles per Hour, Upside Down and Sideways was a true story about the author, who was a young boy at the time. It seemed at a young age Rick Bragg was a lover for fast muscle cars, he loved everything about the cars, the rumble of the engine, the speed and the burning of the rubber when he punched the gas. Using vivid imagery through-out his story to show his memory from that summer before his senior year for the reader to get a clear image of what he went through. Bragg also takes a familiar topic that a lot of people could relate to, to make his memory more meaningful to more people. The story 100 miles per hour, upside down and sideways is a great memory from Rick Braggs that can connect many people to one past memory.…

You cannot escape the evidential truth that Ford’s pony car has a great deal of history behind it, while it adroitly advances that legacy with each new model built. My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…
