My Contribution To Diversity Analysis

Improved Essays
I would contribute to as well as benefit from the diversity at NC State University. There are many ways in which my experiences will contribute to the diversity at NC State, such as: living overseas, gaining some college experience prior to attending a university, and living on my own. I spent most of my youth traveling with the military, which allowed me to experience foreign cultures first hand. I obtained college credits by being dual enrolled between Wayne School of Engineering, a high school, and Wayne Community College and had freedoms that other high school students do not have, such as being able to travel to the college as a high school student, as young as a sophomore. As a junior in high school, I was invited to apply to Governor’s

I also would love to also bring diversity to the University and Orange Keys not only because I am a minority, but also my history of living in a household that made no more than $30,000 annually, as well as one bringing in more than $100,000 annually helps me understand both sides of the coin. Last but not least, I would also take pride in bringing hard work and service to both the University and the Orange Keys. I have learned how to work hard when playing sports, and working two jobs to help my mom with cancer, as well as putting…

Canada is a large country filled with provinces that range in cultural distinctiveness, political life and overall economic goals. In a sense, each province is unique from one another and can be seen as a “small world” within a larger Canadian context. In the article titled: “Small Worlds of Diversity: Views Toward Immigration and Racial Minorities in Canadian Provinces”, Antoine Bilodeau, Luc Turgeon and Ekrem Karakoc examine each province’s views on immigration and racial minorities by developing three key questions: What are the differences in views toward immigration and racial minorities across Canada? Has public opinion evolved over the years?…

The diversity at NC State is one of the many reasons that draws me to the University. I look forward to meeting the vast array of individuals who all unite as one in the Wolfpack. Diversity will allow me to understand different people for who they are, not how they are presented in the media and popular culture. Different viewpoints, languages, ethnic groups, and nationalities are just a few of the things I hope to experience at NC State. I find it important to create acquaintances from various backgrounds in order to unite ourselves as fellow humans, regardless of where we were born or what language we speak.…

Recently, a lot things like Trump temporarily banned immigration from 7 countries, he also wants to build wall on the U.S-Mexico border makes me thinking about Patrick Buchanan’s essay “Can Diversity Destroy Us?” and “A.D. 2041 – End of White America?”. He mentioned “That America is gone forever. Last week we learned that in the last seven years 10.3 million people, almost all from the third world, entered the United States, more than half illegally.”…

The Trouble with Diversity: Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Identity The study of diversity is widely exploited in political circuits in United States of America. Engaged from the presidential and ministerial speeches, it fits into their arguments without assessing the distortions that such a sequence suppose. Diversity is not a paradigm of equality. On this point, Walter Benn Michaels’s in his essay “The Trouble with Diversity: How We Learned to Love Identity and Ignore Inequality” allows to grasp some dimensions because "when it replaced the struggle for equality, the commitment diversity has weakened the political levees that contained the liberal thrust "(Michaels 2). In fact, despite the speech to deliberate accents claiming to provide visibility…

Every year we travel to my mother’s hometown and stay for weeks at a time, occasionally taking excursions to other countries and Europe. Nevertheless, I was exposed to a bigger world, and I was able to live and experience what my mother had. I grew up running down cobblestone streets through a small town in Germany, Lemwerder, where I was able to see a completely different culture than the United States. I believe that growing up with two distinct cultures, I developed into a person with differing opinions and a much broader view. As a part of NC State’s community, I would not only be able to share the traditions I grew up with, but also learn from other students and how their culture has impacted their lives, as well.…

I am so excited for the opportunity to share in this most diverse campus at NC State! Being a student at NC State, I would both benefit from and contribute to campus diversity. It would enable me to learn about different cultures and inevitably make me a more sensitive person and more tolerant of other peoples views and religious beliefs. Also, being a student at such a diverse campus would prepare me for the work force where I'll encounter people from all walks of life who's views might be different from my own. What I would like to contribute to NC State's diversity are my own set of views and perspectives.…

After attending a small charter school from 4th grade through 12th, I am looking forward to experiencing a bigger atmosphere. I have kept the same friends since middle school and honestly there is not much diversity between us. I would benefit from NC State’s campus because it would broaden my view of other cultures and beliefs, and force me to reflect on my own opinions. This reflection could lead to exposure to different life experiences and therefore learning from others. Exposure to diversity will help me grow as a person and a student.…
