My Conspiracy Theory

Looking back to the first week of the class, where we were required to write the conspiracy convention chart at the beginning of the course. I was struggling to write down because I don’t know much about conspiracy theory. However, during the middle of the course, I can fill the chart easily. I understand how conspiracists construct their conspiracy theories after all the reading and analyzing. (Conspiracy Convention) This chart was very useful for my RIP project, where I can get ideas to create my video and provide me the potential styles or forms that I can use in my conspiracy theory.

Another stunning concept I have learned from this RIP assignment is to cultivate a split mind. A part of me have to be a writer, and a part of me is being a critic and an editor. When I was creating my RIP video, there was a critical voice in my head. For example, when I was creating the script for my conspiracy theory, where I assume that the professor actually have contact with the aliens. The idea of logical fallacies came to my mind right away after this statement, where I notice myself is using the “Strawman” strategy to convince the audience. This course also taught me how to observe articles or videos differently, which it is very important for future writing classes. I started up with moving small steps, where I improved my summary writing skills and analysis, and then taking a big step by turning myself into a conspiracists. To become a better writer, I need to explore different styles of writing and not stuck with the old traditional five paragraph writing. Being a conspiracist helped me to understand more about writing and learned many different strategies to present an argument. I believe all the skills I learned from this course not only would help me do well in my future writing classes, but also help me to success as a
