Personal Narrative: Problems In My Community

There are many problems in my community. I want to address a few that I see on an every day basis. My community is infested with drugs. Individuals are selling drugs on almost every corner. It is so easy to get your hands on almost anything and everything you are looking for whether it be weed, heroine, crack cocaine, Percocet, xanax, (etc). The drug dealers do not care about what they are doing to the community. They will serve drugs to anyone, in front of children, in front of your home, and I have even seen drugs being sold to a woman who was nine months pregnant. The individuals who are using the drugs do not care also. They will are using the drugs anywhere at any given time. I have seen police officers misuse their authority make false traffics stops just to make a drug sale. I have seen police stop and mess with a certain individual with no reason doubt, and I have seen police and beat people with excessive force. There is no respect between police and the people in my community. It 's like they both hate each other. It really makes me feel sad because these are the ones we call when we are need of help, sometimes life and death situations. They tell us people there is "no money" for schools and that is why they closed almost half of the schools in Philadelphia, but then wonder why we have so many drop outs. Seeing actions like that just makes us believe they truly do not care about our children 's education. There are many teachers who are just in school to receive a paycheck and not there for what they got hired for, to teach our children. We need to find a team of teachers & school counselors that make our children feel comfortable, safe, motive and create an establishment that our children want to attend school every day and learn new
