Congratulations high school seniors! You’re about to enter a higher education experience. If you want to be successful in college, you must expect big things about what’s going on and how this place works. On your first day, you’re about to enter an exciting and deeply enriching chapter of your lives. One that will expose both of you to different perspectives, challenge the way you see the world, make you ask some really tough questions and basically help you unlock the mystery of who you really are and who you want to become. Remember, you’re no longer a child. Going to college means your parents will not babysit you, and you have to take care of your own responsibilities. Because we are here in college to learn and succeed in the future, college students should behave like mature adults, and they need to secure their educational achievement, respect their professors, and obey classroom rules. There’s a big difference between high school educators and college professors. High school teachers make sure that you learn something and there are evaluated through standardized tests. You can blame on that teacher if they failed you. In college, you will not dare to say that the professor failed you. The professors job is “to lead you to the fountain of knowledge…they get paid to pass and/or fail you” (Parsons). After class, it will be your responsibility to get as much feedback from the professor. Respond back to your professor by email and visit your professors office hours for additional help. If you’re serious about college work, get on the genius side; however “good grades suggest someone who is not only smart, but is reliable and can be counted upon to represent their university well” (Landdeck).When you are preparing to learn, respect your professors and show them that you are ready to
