As somebody who looked forward to college for years, it’s okay to say that my first semester has surpassed all beliefs of what I thought college would be like. It’s been such a ride from the minute I walked onto campus all the way to today. Even after a lot of tears, and maybe slight blood and sweat, the end of the semester is upon us. Isn’t funny how time flew by so fast? When in middle school a two-hour class felt like it’s never-ending. Orientation, the first day of class, taking midterms, going on to thanksgiving break, finals, and boom, the first semester is done. Just looking back on these last few months, I have learned quite a few lessons inside and outside of the classrooms that I will carry on with myself into the next semester and …show more content…
Without planning and organizing in college, life is practically chaos. I quickly realized that you really cannot push things off in college because you’ll either forget about the assignment or you’ll be doing it last minute in a rush (and there will be a bunch of mistakes). I learned that the hard way, I once had a week to submit my journal for a class, but I put it off until the last minute, what were the odds that that day I had a flight at the same time the assignment was due, and I couldn’t submit it on time, so I got a big fat "F". The time between the beginning and the end of the semester is broken up by midterms, tests, quizzes, projects, work, and social life. That basically means that if there’s no schedule organized for homework, studying and reading the material, you’ll find yourself struggling to catch up. College is obviously a time for fun, being with friends and going out on Friday nights, but it’s also a time that will shape the rest of your life. So essentially, I figured out what the best balance of school life and social life is for myself with trial and error.
