My College Degree

Being able to live a comfortable and successful life are only some of the many reasons why I am pursuing a college degree. The college degree I plan on receiving is a bachelor’s in arts and sciences, majoring in Criminal Justice. It not only improves your quality of life, but also benefits your life in endless ways. There are several people who go to work everyday miserable because they do not have the same passion as they did before. My lifetime goal is to be able to work at job that I am passionate about; a college degree will get there. The hard four years that I put in college are only going to benefit me in getting my “dream” job, although I may not know what that is yet. Going to work with excitement and knowing you are getting paid well are some of the qualities that I want for my job. With my degree and a well-rounded personality, I will be able to get a job that I desire. On the first day of my English class my Professor told me, “Being in college is only going to give you a raise in your next job”. Learning college material well only puts you higher than the other people wanting the same job as you. For instance, the guy next to you at a job interview probably skipped some classes in college and you didn’t. When the other person shows he cant be able to do write a descriptive paragraph on a product, the job is going to look for you because you learning the things necessary to be descriptive. In another situation, you will be able to use your college mind to improve you status at the job. My English Professor showed us that being to put a comma in the right spot can be the difference of you being promoted or getting a raise, rather than someone else getting it.
