Protecting your family from other people or situations that may cause harm is very important, however there is a limit to how far you can go to protect family without breaking the law. Loving your family and others by showing care and compassion will result in people being honest with one another, however you must be careful who you extend your love to because people will be who they are good or bad. As we saw with the Tuskegee experiment that everyone even the government was involved in this disgraceful act. We need to ask more questions when questions are asked answers are given but until the questions comes up no one is obligated to give an answer. However like I have learned throughout life the hard way never ask a question you don’t want the answer to, but this is a double sword because even though you may not want to know the answer we sometime need the truth anyway. To sum it up my mama has given me so much life lessons that I can always fall back on to allow me to protect my family and not be misled by anyone. I believe people are born with a good heart but life creates monsters and to avoid any harm to my family I follow the acronym P.L.A.Y. I believe an action is right and only right if we continue to apply P.L.A.Y in our life and the outcome would be of our own

Being the second eldest meant I had a lot of responsibility both visible and invisible to my younger siblings. In the visible sense I had to make sure they did not get into any trouble and they did what was told to them. Those responsibilities were easy; the invisible responsibilities were the harder ones to account for. The responsibilities of setting a good example, making sure they are on the right path, and instilling in them the same values that were instilled in me. As I grew up I tried my best to make sure I held myself accountable for any time my siblings got out of line because my mom was always working and it appeared I was left to fill in the blanks.…

It feels awful when someone lies to you, so do not do it to other people. When someone is honest with his or her transgressions, then my parent encouraged us to extend forgiveness. Though forgiveness is a choice, it is a hard choice to make. Everyone is going to make mistakes, but those mistakes do not define them. My parents recognized that and urged us to forgive, because there are going to be times when we make mistakes and “don’t we want them to forgive us?” My mom has modeled this beautifully over the past few years as she has worked through my father’s actions.…

Mothers inspire children to achieve any goal placed on them; my mother is no exception. They are the foundation of the millions of children in the world, who look to find support in a being that we call, mom. Although the journey is not always perfect, I, like many other individuals, am forever grateful for the mother that raised me.
