My Co-Work Experiences

Having held a job in the fast food industry for three years I have personally seen the ramifications of not having a valuable college education, I have seen the hardships faced by my co-workers and the drawbacks from not having a college education, and do not want them for myself. I have since moved from fast food to a factory job where I have seen similar trials faced by my co-workers. In my factory job I spend most of my time doing blue collar work, this is not my end goal for a job, and I would like to push my boundaries beyond working as grunt labor. To this end I have diligently saved a large portion of my income to be able to afford a college education. PSEO immensely helps with this because it covers this year’s college expenses for …show more content…
Where I have worked diligently to complete assignments on time, and ask for assistance when appropriate. This level of dedication, however, unfortunately was not mirrored my some of the staff. Most of my teachers were quite insightful and informative, however, I had one instructor who seemed to be under motivated. Not grading assignments, or even being reachable for insight when it was appropriate. As an indication of my commitment to my personal education, I believed that this teacher was under preforming and being negligent in her teaching responsibilities, this belief was ratified by the institution deciding to fire her. I was not one of the students who was rejoicing over another canceled class, however, I was one who believed that this teacher was neglecting her job, and that I was the one who would end up paying the price. It was quite annoying to find that the students at this school were more engaged and demanding than was this teacher. Rather than protesting I decided to document and keep notes of when the teacher canceled class after class. Keeping notes of when she did not return or even grade assignments; And at the appropriately deemed time took this to the head of the department. To this end I have reluctantly decided to go elsewhere for my next

    1. The union wanted to establish the company’s act as a UPL because, otherwise it would be an economic strike and the workers wouldn’t be entitled to get their jobs back. However, I think that the company did not committed a ULP because Gibson claimed in good faith that the strike was illegal, since the old CBA had a no strike clause and stated that it will stayed valid until they created a new one. 2. The Board of Education committed a ULP because they terminate the position to avoid arbitration.…

It was a Tuesday morning, Stew was acting very lazy ish once again. I was the manager at the time so I asked Stew nicely “may you please get up and help me with the delivery of donuts from the truck?”…

Although there are many problems in this case, the main problem is lack of student learning, which needs to be the top priority of a free and appropriate public education, aside from safety, which is always at the forefront. As the principal, I need to reflect on my last 2 years of making an attempt to develop positive and trusting relationships, and my own growth as an educational leader. The problem here is that Principal Hulbert is still at a Level 1 leadership role; where people follow you simply because of your title. This was demonstrated when Bill Osborne, the employee spokesperson, told the principal, “You are the boss and you can force us to revise the lesson plans. Just tell us what you want in the lesson plans, we’ll copy it, and we can go on to more important issues,” (Kowalski, 2012, p.5).…

“Facta-Non-Verba: Deeds not Words,” I read those words online when I researched the fraternity, and was immediately impressed with the meaning that they convey. However, it was not until the information session, where I heard the words aloud, did they really impact me, and caused me to pause in consideration. Some words carry a certain power that causes inflection and reflection when spoken aloud. When I heard the phrase aloud, I honestly felt moved, and inwardly remembered back to when I was in high school where I demonstrated “Facta-Non-Verba.”…

Throughout my tenure as a courtesy clerk (bagger) at Kroger, I engaged in various acts of petty rebellion. However, in my final days employed there, I had moved from fruitless anger and focused it into an organized protest, one that had an impact on both myself and the store, if only for a day. Similar to the actions Smith took in The Loneliness of The Long-Distance Runner, by Alan Sillitoe, my behavior was one that resulted from a conflict between personal principles, and a hatred for arbitrary authority and abuse of position by “the man,” Smith and I hold the same philosophy, in essence, of power. ”If only ‘them’ and ‘us’ had the same ideas we’d get on like a house on fire,” (1205) the managerial staff of Kroger certainly had an “us versus…

Although the situation seemed irredeemable, I decided not to surrender. A few days later I wrote a petition, which listed several cases of Dr. W.’s bias against pupils including me, and asked the administration to replace Dr. W. by another teacher. After I had read the petition to my classmates, I asked them if they would join me in signing it. As I expected, the only words I heard were: “There is no way you will succeed.” “Probably,” I replied.…

Teacher Insurance One day during the week of July 2015, our Golden Apple class had a debate over the pros and cons of teacher tenure. Tenure for teachers is like insurance on the job. This debate took place in a classroom on St. Xavier University’s campus in one of the building. Several Golden Apple students and I participated in this debate, there had been about 20 or more of us in this classroom and as I cannot remember everything every person in the room said, I can recall some very important points that was brought up during the debate. This happened about 3:30 in the afternoon.…

I pay to go to this school and I work over forty hours a week to do so. Teachers that are just ready to retire lose all the care in the world for the students that are trying to learn right in front of them. Math is my strongest subject and going into my first year in college I was expecting things to be more difficult but to have a teacher look at you when you step into the classroom the very first day and say, “I’m going to fail you because I don’t think you’ll do well.” Really put a damper on my plans of being successful. That math class started out completely full with forty students and by week two there were only five kids left.…

I remember feeling my stomach do a flip turn as I watched who entered the room. A friend of mine was sitting in front of the Honor Council. At my high school, the Honor Council is an elected group of six students including four faculty advisors, which hears cases of students who have broken the school's honor code: "I pledge on my honor not to lie, cheat, steal, plagiarize, or vandalize. " I was elected at the end of my sophomore year to the position and had promised my peers to hear cases with an unbiased ear and to speak for all of them in the panel's discussions. It was not until I was hearing the case of a friend that I knew how difficult that promise was going to be.…
