The things I have learned so far…

About Classroom Management:

Every day at my Kindergarten class it is a challenge to get my lesson across to as many students as possible while controlling some student’s behavior. The ratio of one teacher for eighteen students makes things even harder; however it is my job to try to successfully educate the children under my care with the best of my abilities, which in my case as a novice teacher are not many.

During this course I came across a video of a young teacher from Granite Hills High School (Porterville – CA), her name was Mrs. Garcia and she was happy with her career choice however with her students’ behavior problems she started to disengage from them to the point of saying that “she could not

I am not in the classroom only to lecture them, I am there to ask questions, to lead to discussions that will give each student their own voice. We have a classroom chant that we always repeat: “We are a team of Super Heroes, getting ready for First Grade!” and I can see that it brings them a sense of pride that they have a future goal. It is not about me and what I can teach, it is about them and what can they learn each day. I do not want to see my students only memorizing a subject… I want them to really grasp a new concept, making their own. I want them to find the new information useful for their own little lives out of the school’s …show more content…
Tomlinson’s to create effective differentiation a teacher must know the different learners in the classroom and use this knowledge to help them to connect with the subject being taught. Also a teacher must keep a high-quality curriculum and instruction leading students “beyond their independence level” with a main goal not to lose any “potential brainpower”. Finally a successful educator will “build bridges between the learner and learning”, helping them to understand how the things we are teaching in the classroom will fit into their own lives.

Conclusion:

As a novice teacher I feel the weight of my responsibility to educate the children, who are under my care five days of the week, for about seven hours per day…
It scares me to think that I could be the only person in their lives who will get them excited about learning, about school, even about their bright future.
I do not want to fail them as an educator and my goal is for them to succeed and to do well in school. And I am not talking about only getting good tests’ scores… I am talking about real academic progress that will grow with them for the years to come.
For the sake of my students, I will analyze and consider any new strategy or teaching technics that are presented to me… I will accept feedbacks and suggestions as long they will be useful for all of my eighteen young minds. Moreover I will try to improve myself as a human-being every day in order to embrace every child with their specific

Like so many, I felt an undeniable call to action after watching Davis Guggenheim’s film Waiting for Superman. The film poignantly illustrates the imperative need for a long overdue paradigm shift in American education. In the film, activist, educator and founder of the Harlem Children’s Zone, Geoffrey Canada, shares the disillusionment he felt as a child upon realizing that Superman was not coming to save him from the perils of his impoverished South Bronx neighborhood. His message in the film is that we must become our own superheroes.…

Throughout my observation time spent at Reese Elementary, I have had the opportunity to observe two teachers, Mrs. Church, who is a second-grade teacher, and Mr. Dohrmann, who is a fifth-grade teacher. The teachers teach different grade levels and have very different teaching styles which lead to differences in classroom management and assessment, as well as, other categories. Even though there are many differences between Mrs. Church and Mr. Dohrmann they also have many similarities, such as the way they handle discipline and motivation. During my observation hours in both classrooms, I noticed the classroom management procedures that both teachers use. Both teachers have a class schedule they go by to keep the students and themselves on task throughout the day.…

Classroom management is always been a challenge for novice and veteran teachers. They have to ensure that the classroom lessons run smoothly despite disruptive behavior by students in a conducive learning environment. Many teachers find the transitioning of students from one activity to another to be the most difficult classroom management challenges (Jones & jones, 2016a). I am one of the teachers that finds the transitioning of students from one activity to another to be the most difficult classroom management challenge. Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

While I have a great deal of experience managing a large group of children, I have not had the opportunity to have my own class to develop my own sense of classroom management. I feel confident in my ability to control a class full of students, but I look forward to the opportunity to organize my own classroom and set classroom expectations. Since I have not had my own classroom, I feel there are many little things that happen in a classroom that I have not gotten to practice. There are procedures developed for everything students do in the classroom. I want to see my own growth in classroom management because classroom management can make or break a classroom.…

When we enter into the classroom every day and prepare our lesson plans, we are doing more than just repeating material from a book. We are sharing our personal knowledge with those who will one day control the world. We put a little piece of ourselves in every student we encounter. Whether or not we actually influence them is up to the student. Therefore we must make every possible effort to make a huge impact on their lives each and every…

Thomas Gordon calls his theory Teacher Effectiveness Training. The main component, listening, is important, because that is how a teacher can see dilemmas the students are having and to determine how the students comprehend the teacher’s lessons. If this communication is misread or not present, then there will be a range of problems that will occur. One part of this theory is the Twelve Roadblocks to Communication. These are simply twelve ways a child interprets responses from the teacher which could in fact prohibit the child’s ability to solve the problems and questions on his own to succeed.…

In my classrooms I engage with students as equally participating citizens capable of facilitating social, political, ethical and cultural awareness and transformation. As an interdisciplinary scholar and teacher of childhood and youth studies I communicate to participants that there are no final answers to the questions we ask. Rather, our collaborative goal should be to explain how we arrive at particular interpretations, conclusions, or recommendations. I seek to create an egalitarian classroom environment where participants take responsibility for intellectual engagement caringly and without censorship. In this open space, which is always up for re-definition, I call on participants to be intellectual and self-reflective when criticizing…

Also taking away their free time because they were very talkative a day in class. Students will learn by example and this will modify their behavior. Positive and negative consequences will vary behavior but creating an intervention plan with bad students will help them understand and slowly monitor progress. During my field experience I have noticed that my cooperative teacher has taken away fun activities/ labs in class because of the way that students were behaving and this has shown a positive impact on their behavior in future classes because the teacher follows thru with what she says she will do if they do not behave. The ultimate goal of my classroom management is not to manage control of the class but to ensure that everyone meets my expectations in order for them to learn in an effective and supportive environment but to teach students self-discipline and to understand the rules and consequences of my classroom by acting accordingly.…
